“Very cool park. The fields are nice and made of artificial turf. We were confused by the conditions of the access roads to reach the parking lot though. It really felt like we were back on vacation in Jamaica with potholes that could swallow your car if you're not careful!”

“Great park for the whole family. Not so much for toddlers or younger kids but for the 3rd graders and up this park is the spot. The jungle gym is awesome and there's also a fun tire swing type swing to play on. I enjoyed it!😅 The park has a track to walk, a field to play in, and there is a fenced leash off dog area for your furry family to run free. There's drinking fountain, trails around a small pond, and picnic tables. Location is convenient right off Meridian. You can't miss it!”

“Hiked The Allatoona Falls Trail. This is a nice walk. The hike takes you alongside the creek on a fairly easy path. The terrain is not difficult. Perfect for kids. You have to watch for mountain bikes at the beginning, but all were very respectful and careful of those on foot.”

“New Family friendly park. No pets allowed but still not a major negative. The playgrounds are labeled for their age appropriateness and noting seems broken. Good for an afternoon or last minute free for all.”

“I love this place. Well marked trails, you can hike to the water and during the spring they have breeding ospreys!”

“This was one of the best hikes I've done in the area! Plenty of interconnecting trails to explore. A little crowded parking lot on the weekend if you don't show up early, but the trails aren't crowded at all. Was able to walk 16 miles the last time I went and even with a puppy and a group of people, the hike was pleasant and not too challenging. Just a nice way to get outside and see the river and quarry and waterfalls.”

“Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our first visit to Avatan. (8/1/2022). Such a great experience! The lady at the front desk put us at ease and made us feel right at home. The couple from Texas that gave us the tour couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. You will be seeing us again! Thank you all so much for such a great first visit! What a lovely welcoming place!”

“I go here almost every day to ride my bike and it's nothing short of amazing. There's a large hill to go down, and another very steep off-trail one that use a lot. Highly recomend, but don't use the hill too much! :)”

“A gorgeous area tucked away off M12. Filled with a ton of different trails, some very well maintained and others weaving through the woods. Many trails can be water covered or muddy if you come around any rainfall, but during the drier season, you should be fine with some boots. Some great views of the River Rouge, and plenty of wildlife including birds, squirrels, butterflies and dragonflies. A few benches along the way to stop if you need. Also, when heading towards Lilley, you can hear the sound of the power lines humming as you pass beneath them. Overall, a very cool, nifty, and enjoyable place to spend time hiking or biking!”

“We stayed at Swanson Meadows because everywhere else was booked. I'm so glad we chose this campground. The reservable campgrounds were packed! Swanson is a hidden gem. There's only like 8-ish campsites so there's never a ton of people. There's great trails through meadows from the campgrounds. The pit toilets were pretty stinky, but other than that, we loved this site. Very dense conifer cover. We let our dogs run around off leash. We went Labor Day Weekend. Of course we tried to NOT PAY since it's a non-manned campground. Ranger came around and collected money. No complaints though. Small price to pay for such beauty and seclusion. Campsites are far away from each other (most are at least). So glad we stayed here rather than JAMMED PACKED Edison or Dora Belle.”

“Love this fair! By ourselves or with kids and grandkids, it never disappoints. From the animals, display halls, food options, carnival rides and shows. Every year we enjoy it. If you have children or bringing grandchildren definitely get the wristband and you'll save a lot of money on the carnival rides. They have an area with rides for older children and a separate area with rides for little ones.”

“I am from Colorado and my family has invited us out here. It is totally awesome. My perfect vacation stay every year. The residents are so friendly and engaging. They have a pool and big venue. A dedication area for all Armed Forces. Beautiful ponds with fish, lillie pads and frogs 🐸 Great spot for relaxing 😌 This is the perfect place for community. Love it!”

“Stayed with friends at spots 18 and 19 in early October. We had sites closest to the main road which turned out to still be pretty quiet. We could hear the Kern River down below, and an easy minute or so walk down proved worth it. There was a bit of foot traffic by fisherman down the path behind these campsites, otherwise they were very private and were roomy with plenty of privacy. Bathrooms were close and fairly well-maintained, and a short walk away was the "Croc Rock" which was a fun surprise. Highly recommended!”
