Casa Portuguesa - A typical Portuguese Restaurant... is anything other than typical. It is unique in Kent. As you walk through the door you are transported into a Mediterranean atmosphere with terracotta tiled floors and stucco walls and a beautiful open wood fire for those cold winter months. The proprietor is very friendly and welcomes you with open arm. The expression Mi Casa, Su Casa comes to mind. The restaurant itself is comfortable and has a relaxed feel to it. And then we come to the food. If you like Mediterranean you're gonna love this place. Fish and Seafood are their speciality. I had Lulas Fritas for starter, fried squid!) It was some of the best squid if have tried in a long while. We spoke to the owner who was very professional and happy to either speak with us or keep his distance. He drives personally every week (sometime two or three times a week) to Bilingsgate Fish Market to pick out his fish and he has had years of experience in this. I could go on crowing about how good the place is, top notch food and excellent service (although it wasn't very busy on a Tuesday night). I couldn't fault the three coarse meal I had and neither could my fussy vegetarian wife! At £68 for a good three course meal for two, coffee and a decent bottle of Portuguese Red not too bad on price either. All in all 5 out of 5 for me. Would like to go back again and try some of the other specialities on offer.
