The Wrangells still feel undiscovered, a rare thing in this world. It's a privilege to explore them, best done from a seat in a Super Cub. Once off the trails and away from the roads the landscapes are vast, ancient, dynamic, vibrant. They inspire a genuine sense of awe. Ultima Thule + the Claus family are the best way to get familiar with the Wrangells, sharing their home and several lifetimes of stories and wisdom. The food is delicious, the staff is genuine and wonderful. And Paul will remind you - treat the mountains with respect and humility. This is an exceptional place, take care of it!

If you get a chance to visit Ultima Thule -- go. In a world full of indistinctive places this is a truly special one.

We made our second visit in June 2021 and will be returning next year with our adult children! I think it says a lot. We are world travelers and this is the only place we have made a return visit.. No time to be bored. Beautiful scenery and lots of adventure. Fantastic food. All employees and the owner are excellent. I would give this experience a 10!

Incredible place, location, experience, staff. I went there for fall colors in September 2020, one of the best experiences of my life, Paul, his wife and family are fantastic. Hope I can go again! PS, may seem like a minor point, in my 20 years of being in far off places, the lunch sandwiches provided during the daytime trips rank among the top two of my entire life 😀

Paul got us out on Mt. Bona for us to claim the first summit of the season. Excellent flying.

One of the guys on our trip paid his portion with a bad check and took 2 months for Paul to get paid, not at all acceptable. Paul was extremely reasonable and patient as it was all sorted out.

One of the most amazing places on planet Earth! 100 miles from the nearest road. Fly-in only (provided by the famous and world-class bush pilots at Ultima Thule Outfitters). True Alaskan wilderness without another soul for 100's of miles because it is nestled in the center of the world's largest national park! NO ONE ELSE lives within 100's of miles! The lodge itself is gorgeous and family owned. The Claus family are 5 star hosts providing a luxurious and yet rustic rugged Alaskan experience. The food is absolutely gourmet and the activities are limited only by your imagination. They can take you somewhere where no human has ever tread! Easy to do when they are the only ones living in 13 million acres of wilderness and the largest mountains in the state of Alaska! I cannot wait for the day when my wife and I can go back there. It's already been too long and we anxiously await our return to Ultima Thule Outfitters!
