“If you’re in Alaska for the scenery, outdoorsy lifestyle, comfortable accommodations all in a great location this is the spot!! Richard and his family were so welcoming and the home itself was not only in a prime location to see beautiful Alaska (attached picture is only a 5 minute drive from the house!) but is beautifully maintained and had great amenities. We stayed in the studio apartment in the basement, which was perfect for a couples vacation getaway. The upstairs part looked like a great size for a larger group however! Would definitely stay here again!!”

“If you're looking for a quiet getaway, then this is definitely the place!!! My lady and I had an adorable cabin for the night, with all amenities available. Sadly we were only able to stay one night as the cabin had already been booked for the following day, but no matter! I'm sure the next guests will enjoy it as much as we did! Quiet location off the highway, gorgeous view. The first message we got was "please excuse the construction mess, we're adding new cabins". Honestly, if anyone is upset at the construction, then maybe they shouldn't be staying there, I'd recommend downtown Anchorage with all the riffraff. I sure hope we can land this location again soon, as we're planning another weekend getaway!! 5 stars all around!!!!!”

“Fantastic inclusive Alaska adventure package! The Alaska Adventure Company focuses on very unique, off-grid bundled packages. We chose the Summer Solstice Grand Adventure and the package gave us all we hoped for and more: awesome fishing lodge experience, great people, flight-seeing, helicopter glacier experience we will never forget, glacier dog-sledding!, bear-viewing down the coast, incredible food and service!.... all just for our family.. not part of a tour group! We loved the people and how we were able to do all of this within a week. Thank you!”

“I've been here for the last week. Linda has been a very accommodating host. I was here for three days, left for one then came back. I found both rooms to be clean, no off-putting smells and no maintenance issues. Its barebones minimum as you should expect for a motel in this price range. No A/C but its July and heat hasn't been an issue. I love that its right off the main road so easy in and out. The minor road noise has not been an issue for me. I can barely hear it with the door closed and cant hear it at all with fan in the rear window. Full beds, not queens. Great wifi service. No complaints. I'm back now for the third time for four more days.”

“Krista is THE BEST host. The home cooked breakfast and other homemade goodies are amazing. We felt comfortable from the moment we stepped in the front door. Very comfortable beds. Krista helped us by providing a quick list of things to do and see during our stay in Anchorage. We spent one evening sitting out on the beautiful deck among the gorgeous flowers and herbs, drinking wine taking in the scenery. Krista made us feel completely at home. I strongly recommend this B & B to anyone visiting Anchorage.”

“Wife and I went here for a date, service was kind and welcoming, made sure our needs were met. Food time from kitchen to table was very prompt, did not have to wait long after our order. We got covered potato wedges which were delicious. I got the classic cheeseburger and my wife got NY steak. Both were cooked to order and tasted great. Only negative was my wife’s mixed veggies we a little raw. Would definitely go again.”

“My husband and I were at McDougall in 2022, July 17-23. One thing about choosing your week at the lodge is you never know what the weather will be. We got cloudy with rain usually at night. This made it tough on the fishing because of the muddy water, regardless of the weather we had a wonderful time. We met a lot of wonderful people. We weren't interested in the Kings because we catch them in California, that's why we chose to go in July. And despite the weather we caught a Sockeye, some Pike and lots of trout. I've never had a guide work harder to find fish. Our guide Bill did a great job and we enjoyed his knowledge of the river. I found that the Lodge charming and exactly as describe on the website. Not the Hilton but very typical for remote lodges. Everything you need for your off time with games inside and out. Dave the cook provided us with good-old home cooking and fresh breads. The facilities are very clean. Staff was helpful and genuinely good people.”

“I don’t know what an “authentic Alaskan experience” is, but I do know I’ve never seen a place like this in the lower 48. Beautiful little cabins with virtually no management visible. Check in and that’s it. Enjoy the quiet - except for the creek right next to the cabin. Can’t see the road, not that it matters. Might be a car every 30 minutes. No lobby, no 24 hours coffee, no check-out! Drive down to Grounds for Hope for a cup in the morning. My daughter begged to stay an extra day. Special kudos to Jonathan for working so hard to make us feel welcome.”

“The place is clean, great service, and cable/wifi was good. The location was pretty far back on base and took some time to get anywhere local, but the price is worth it. They are definitely renovated dorms that have been turned into single rooms and suites, so fine for a mil stay but may leave the vacationers desiring more. “The Resurrection pass trail is very well maintained along the roughly 4.25 miles from the Cooper Landing trailhead to this forest service campground. There is a metal bear box about the size of a typical cooler which was really convenient for food storage. The campground has a few spots to put tents spread out through the area. There were a lot of spots we passed up because of roots or slope. The campground is elevated on the bank of Juneau Creek, just upstream from the waterfall so you can sleep listening to the rushing water. There is a good spot to get water from the creek just a few yards away. There is an open air pit style toilet / seat with a nice view of a mountain.”

Front desk service forgot about me waiting in the hall for pillows(15mins), but it really wasnt her fault as she was overwhelmed at the desk alone and so many people. Elevator was soo slow. “Four of us fatbiked in from Deshka Landing, probably the most challenging way to arrive... The conditions were slow (due to a recent snow) and we got in later than expected. We were welcomed with a wonderful filling meal, great hospitality and a warm private cabin. We wanted an early breakfast and it was ready for us with more food than four hungry guys could eat. I can’t wait to go back! We were well rested and the ride back was 2.5 hours quicker! I only wish we had more time to spend at the lodge. All the conveniences from home in a remote location! A real Alaskan experience!”

“I can't say enough great things about The Whispering Moose Bed and Breakfast, or about James and Cheryl, for that matter! The beds were super comfortable, the towels were the softest I've ever used, everything was incredibly clean, but cozy at the same time. Cheryl cooked us an amazing, delicious breakfast, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I wish we could have stayed longer, and we'll definitely be back if we're ever lucky enough to visit Alaska again!”

“I have stayed at Maier lake the past two years in August. I cannot tell you how awesome the private bungalows are in cleanliness foreman function. The bathrooms look like they were freshly remodeled on both visits. The staff was absolutely some of the best I’ve ever encountered from a hospitality standpoint. Michael and Marissa were absolutely the best hosts we could’ve ever asked for. I would recommend this property for its location, cleanliness, & hospitality for a large group event or even a couples retreat. A unique and fabulous place to stay.”

In state for a wedding and have to help cook for some events and it's so perfect. Don't even need to buy utensils.”
