“My first real job as a kid 45+ years ago was at Jerry Boyd’s Chevron and later Exxon pumping gas for full service customers and helping with car repairs. If a customer bought gas, they got all their fluids checked , tires aired and windows washed. Jerry always had around 6 full time highly experienced mechanics with more work than they could complete because people knew Jerry was honest and his crew did good work at a fair price. When we had a problem we couldn’t figure out, we took the vehicle to Elliot’s to resolve it. I’m glad Elliot’s is still going but sadly my feeling is they’re just hanging on because all these big shop chains where many of the mechanics are “so so” and many managers are ticket and dollar driven dot Cave Creek Road nowadays and COVID-19 certainly hasn’t helped. These guys work on anything including cars from the auction block and vintage any car. John is a straight shooter. Sometimes they have to keep my cars longer than I’d like but they just fixed an emission issue (2000 Camry) nobody and I mean nobody in 8 years was able to repair. They rewired the burned wiring from a failed/shorted headlight switch (1977 Porsche 911) which is a lot of wiring for under 2k. I hope I’m wrong about them “hanging on”. Support this business. “Super impressed with this place. The Toyota dealership thought I damaged my lift kit. A welder quoted me $1450 to fix. The guys at this store quickly diagnosed that only the front strut and strut install kit was damaged - not the lift. Not only did they replace with an upgraded raised strut, it was less than I got quoted elsewhere - only $735 for two new lifted strut installs. When I asked them “anything else you think I might need while you guys have my truck up?” They said nope - they didn’t upsell me even when I asked. Really relaxed place in there. They let me leave the truck early and called me when it was ready. Truck drives so much better. While I was there, I told them my big tires rubbed on tight turns. They fixed that too for $275. The welder quoted me $300 for the same job. This place is great.”
