The People's Store

This store is a gem that should be supported. They are holding down space for black-owned business in Oakland with high intentions of community service, quality art from local artists, important literature, insence, jewelry and wellness/beauty products made from family recipes. All the beautiful brothers and sisters involved in this business are amazing to talk to. It's worth dropping by just to get to know them.

And it's also worth dropping into their Soul Food spot two doors down where they offer delicious and healthy vegan and halal meat options.

Great people great store great Goods great service and I learned something while I fed myself

I visited the Bay area with my family and stayed at an Airbnb near the store. I would see beautiful African print clothing displayed outside and wanted to stop and finally did so on my last day. Everyone was SUPER friendly - the store was already closed when I got there but the owner let me shop around. Even though, the store was techically already closed - the owner still took time to share information on the products. He put me on to this whipped shea and told me I could use it from head to toe. The product is called "Cocoa Bliss" and I LOVE it for my hair and skin - he told no lies. I also got the cutest sandals with African print. If you like eclectic jewelry, natural products, and African prints - check them out! Love the vibe with the barbershop next door and the owner also owns the restaurant on the corner. Cool spot!
