“This was a nice park in the city. The lake smelled pretty bad and the creek looked polluted but it's cool that this park exists and the trail was fun. There some cool trees here and it's a great place to picnic and walk your dog. Just keep in mind dogs are not allowed off leash or on the beach at all. Just the trails”

“This beautiful and rugged park is an excellent place to get away from the massed hordes of the city, and out into what passes for nature. Located mere minutes from the dense populations of Berkeley and Oakland, the numerous park trails are surprisingly sparsely hiked, leaving the odd enthusiast to enjoy the peace and quiet, with only the odd wave at the friendly stranger in passing. The trails of this park range from short walks to long and strenuous hikes, and lead up mountains, through dense forest, and if you hike far enough, streams, lakes, and maybe you'll see a Grizzly? Okay, so there aren't bears in the woods - the most I saw was a pack of slightly evil looking dogs which stalked me late one night and scared me half to death, as I walked quickly and wished I were clutching something capable of hurling lead, instead of my miniature folding pocket knife. I wouldn't recommend the trail at night. There are cougars and other wild animals. But do hike them. Get away from the city. Enjoy the beauty of the creation we live in.”

“Wandering the leafy paths lined with living curiosities is pure tranquility! The gardens are replete with birds, newts, ponds, streams, all manner of trees, shrubs, vines, and some grand views with benches for restful contemplation. The very welcoming vibe isn't marred by too much educational structure. Guests are mostly left to themselves, with the option of joining regular guided tours.”
