(February 25, 2019, 12:19 am)I've lived in LA for 8 years and just now experienced this area. This area is part of a great network of trails that would take many visits to fully explore. The actual base is open to everyone and has picnic areas, restrooms and drinking fountains. But the best part is the 360 degree view. You can see the entire San Fernando Valley, the ocean, West Los Angeles, Downtown Los Angeles and the peaks of the San Gabriel Mountains. So beautiful.

LA-96 Nike Radar Control Site (1956-1968) Sitting atop San Vicente Mountain, LA-96 contained ground-based radar and computer systems designed to detect and track hostile aircraft and guide anti-aircraft missiles from the nearby Sepulveda Basin.
