“- 2018 - Changed insurance from Kaiser so I had to change my PCP (primary care physician). I did research into all the doctors near where I live and work and found Dr. David Chen in West Covina. His office was only 8 minutes from work and had some stellar reviews. I made the switch and is my second time here. The nurses and Dr. Chen were really cool and thorough people. The front desk consistently called me the day before to double check and confirm my appointments as well tell me information like if my insurance info was updated, etc. Walking in I was also acknowledged and greeted. Dr. Chen was very easy to talk to and friendly. He asked me all the standard health history questions as well as went through small movement tests to see if my body/reflexes were working normally. Recommended plenty of good points when inquiring about my physical exercise regiment. That's the really good thing was that Dr. Chen seemed like he really cared per individual patient which I didn't get at my previous Kaiser PCP where it was one of the coldest visits I've encountered (understandably PCPs gets overloaded with patients). Small clinic compared to Kaiser (unfortunately I'm really spoiled by Kaiser) so the tech is kind of old (no mobile apps for patient portals, website isn't the most efficient setup). Only gripe, the logistics felt really slow and/or backed up. My appointment was at 2:00PM really was to just meet Dr. Chen and to ask for my medication refill. Didn't get in until 2:40PM because his previous patient stayed past my appointment time which resulted in everything getting backed up. I finished at 3:10PM. Waited another 30 minutes for my lab papers because there was only one nurse working and the other was taking care of the front desk/calls. Overall took almost 2 hours when I was expecting 20 minutes tops. LOL. I had to take more time off work than I wanted to. - 2020 - They have moved to a much better facility and now within walking distance of my house. Which is awesome. I appreciate that the nurses will call the day before to remind patients of their appointments. All my appointments has been smooth and procedures quick.”
