“Charles Mingus was an exceptional jazz double bassist and performed with other local (and notable) musicians from the now historic Central Jazz Avenue section of South Los Angeles. Watts and the County of L.A. has done a great service of commerating his legacy for the younger generation to discover one of America's timeless cultural contributions: Jazz. While simultaneously, appreciating a virtuosic bassist who emphasized an instrument that could do just more than being a rhythm section of a band. His music is still appreciated many years after his death and whenever, I listen to jazz, or more specifically Mingus, I always place the equalizer at "bass booster."”

“Best Social Media Cover Photo. Very nice view of downtown LA. You can also see the Hollywood sign. It’s a very nice drive, or you can park and hike various distances, depending on what you want to do. Pay to park near, but we were able to find spot at the top.”

“Amazing Place. Fantastic place to take your kids. I able to entertain kids from 2 till 12 I would imagine. Or two-year-old love seeing all the science experiments and playing in the mud and nature section in the back. They have different sections geared for different ages. I can see myself coming back more almost every day so that they can explore new area. Highly recommended to get the membership. It's easy to come more than twice to make up the cost.”

“Los Angeles State Historic Park provides an extraordinary opportunity for recreation and education in the heart of Los Angeles. Often referred to as “Central Park of Los Angeles,” within its 32 acres of open space directly adjacent to Chinatown, park visitors can wander pathways and enjoy a view of downtown, as well as discover and celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of Los Angeles. Some of the park's amenities include bathrooms, water fountain, and benches. Plenty of street parking available. You can run, walk, ride a bike, have a picnic, fly a kite and even look for urban wildlife such as birds traveling down the Pacific flyway. You can see the Metro Gold line pass through the park. Overall, its a good place to hangout, do fun activities and watch the sunset.”

“This is a great spot. A rare museum that isn't about selfies but just really meaningful exhibits that celebrate Los Angeles and its origins. And it's free now! And I really enjoy the store- they sell funky, fashionable things. I want to attend their events- they sound really cool.”
