“So here is the thing about Joy Wok, you either love them - or you love them! They have been around since the early 90's when they were located behind "El Farallon" in Lynwood - next to a liquor in that huge shopping center (that's now a school) on MLK Jr. Blvd. Then they moved to a random place in South Gate. Then they moved again to where they are located currently! As a lifelong fan I must say this is the best chinese food spot there is and you will find. Their food is best when fresh but even when it isn't it's just so tasty. The original cooks from way back when it seems are not here anymore but it seems it may have been a family business and recipes because the food still tastes the same. Other chinese food spots have cold chinese food, bad after taste, dry sometimes, you can tell it's old - not JOY WOK! Trust me. Try them and you will not be dissappointed. I recommend a combo with two sides: Half Chow Mein, Half Fried Rice - black pepper chicken and orange chicken. Oh and if your feeling fat like me!? Add a Mongolian Beef (it takes about 10 more minutes for this order but it's worth it cause they make it fresh!) They close Sundays but try them out any other day of the week. Trust me. This is not your mediocre mom's and pops chinese food spot. It's delicious oh and you can also order their food for parties!”

“Went here for a date night with my husband. The hostess and waiter were nice. The margarita was really good. We got the esquite as an appetizer and it tasted good but there were many pieces of the cob mixed in with the corn that we had to spit out. My husband said his tacos were good but he wished they came out hot. My cheese enchiladas were good and I could tell the black beans were made fresh and not from a can. The tempura cauliflower taco tasted good, the salsa on top was really good, I also wish it was a bit hotter though. I appreciated the vegetarian selections!”

“The vibes in this place are ✨ immaculate ✨ when you go in it has very nice, clean 60s/70s style dining area. my favorite spot to sit inside is the long tables that face the window cause there's a nice view of first street. The staff speak English and Spanish and are very nice. You can watch them cook the food on the spot from behind the counter. There is no need for proof of vaccination to eat in the dining area, you can just walk in as long as you have a mask. Social distancing is suggested! The menu is very affordable and you have options between American and Mexican cuisine! I went during breakfast and ordered a large coffee with cream and the Sunrise Burrito which was only 2.99! It was really tasty and great if you're on the go. My partner ordered the quarter pounder burger, it was juicy and delicious. Can't wait to go back and order more from the menu!”

“3.5 solid rating I’m leaving. There wasn’t a host, and employees in the general area were too busy to give direction on what to do, where to go, or what to expect. So we edged closer to the areas we saw a tables by which we came to a podium. It was there we were helped and seated. Our waitress was a middle aged woman who was a pleasant one. She greeted us with eyes that smiled. She was informative of the menu and helped us quite quickly. We ordered pastrami sandwich with coleslaw and macaroni salad. And I ordered an egg white feta wrap for he sorts. Chips and guacamole. The food came out hot and ready and was verrryyyyy filling. We had some for take home after. The onions rings were cooked perfect which was a touch crispy. The wrap that I got was solid. Nothing special and nothing bad. My mom said she loved the pastrami and the pickles and mustard offered made that a good dish. Dessert was a carrot cake, brownie, and strawberry shortcake. These were all phenomenal!!! In the future I look forward to trying more items in their menu.”

There are vegetarian options, and a variety of meats as well (chicken, shrimp, pork, lamb, etc.). They have menus printed with a listing of the dumplings.
