“Just moved here, found this store nearby. Great store, fun to walk through. I think the best thing is the tamales they make, very nice. They have them in packages you can toss in the freezer, and hot ones in a self-serve station [ed: it's not self-serve]. The bakery looks intriguing, but I can't be eating that kind of stuff too much. They make stacks of tortillas in the store, though I confess I eat those high-fiber, low calorie chemical plant creations these days, so I can't indulge. Still, lots of good stuff here, great selection of Mexican peppers at rock bottom prices, less than two bucks for plump pablanos. One thing I'd like to see is a greater selection of red sauces, but no shortage of dried peppers to make your own, I suppose, bins of them. Look for bean and cheese filled corn disks in the freezer, good snacks for the air fryer.”

“Having our two children at Rise and Shine was really a blessing. The staff is very loving and gave our son and daughter a really fun and safe place to learn. We started both our kids there as infants. Our son continued on through kindergarten, and our girl will go to kinder next year. Our son really had a good foundation for first grade and my daughter is making great strides and loves to learn. It is a church school and teaches good Christian values along with solid academics. My son was reading very well in kindergarten… Highly recommended!”

The staff are very kind and take the time to talk with my sons whenever they are visiting. The LA county library website makes borrowing from other branches very easy. “Raul has helped me with several home improvement projects. He has a remarkable ability to envision what could be, but in a way that suits the end-user. In my case, he helped completely transform my kitchen with new lighting and a creative paint job. I really thought he was luny thinking lighting would make such a difference. No pun intended but before-after is like night and day. He worked the same magic on my bathroom. Both spaces went from dull, outdated kurfludgery (a made up word that sounds like how those spaces felt :-P) to pleasant, attractive spaces that make me feel special just being there. Best value home make-over ever! He is also very crafty with designing & building. He custom made a shelving system for my work operations that is so sturdy and neat-looking, everyone who sees it admires it. He also made a decorative wrought iron mirror frame that's the centerpiece of my foyer.”

“During the recent rain storm, my parents' concrete tile roof started leaking, bad. The house is less than 10 years old and such material is meant to last 75 years. Upon getting up to the roof and consulted with severval roofers, it appears damage was caused by termite guys we had hired: some of the tiles were damaged, misplaced, and water barrier beneath was compromised. After a few quotes, I chose Mr. Choi to do the repair. He appeared to be honest and was able to start right away. Mr. Choi started work the next day, and whenever the weather permitted. Keep in mind that 2017 is one of the biggest storm we have had in years. So it took a few days, but finally the roof stopped leaking. During the whole time, Mr. Choi came by during the downpour to inspect his work and to make sure there is no leakage. And he called and provided me with updates on the repair daily. Always professional and courteous. Needless to say, I am very satisfied with Mr. Choi's work. And the fact that he is willing to guarantee his work with written contract give us a peace of mind. Highly recommended.”

“I was looking for 'restaurants near me'. Saw Yolys and asked opinion of a stranger: "Go There. You will be glad you did!". He was spot on Right. I was met by the very pleasant Monica. She answered all my questions and I settled on the Super Burrito. Such a large portion! Full of tasty shredded chicken and a blend of very diverse ingredients. Monica was there often to top off coffee and see if I needed anything. The restaurant was clean, and inviting. My cook, i did not get his name, but a friendly man who obviously knows how to prepare, and present. A meal. Very nice stop. Enjoyed it, (just as the stranger i met, said I would.) NOW...As for that Burrito, I cannot believe I ate it all, but I could not stop. Definitely gonna take a nap now lol :-) Thank you so much, Monica, and Yolys. /Bob”
