Showing my age, I can remember buying a glass bottle of Coca-Cola for the exorbitant price of 15 cents + 3 cents deposit on the bottle. The bottle when turned in for return of the 3 cent deposit, was cleaned and then sterilized, then refilled and ready for the next thirsty customer, no waste there.
