My favorite trail especially in the winter but if you're doing it in the winter crampons and ice axe is a good idea
Pretty good leg workout all the way to the ski Hut.
We loved hiking to the top
Not that amazing without snow. And don't try it without snow. With snow, it will be fun and safe
This is one of my favorite trails, seriously it's a right of passage. Mt. Baldy sits at 10,064 feet of elevation and it is not your everyday hike. This hike is about 10 miles round trip. From the parking lot to the skihut it takes me about 1 hour and 30 minutes. This route is shorter but steeper than taking Devils backbone trail. There is more forest but after the hut there is no shade. Round trip for me is around 8 hours. When I reach the top I always have lunch and take pics which takes about an hour. I take Davils backbone on my way down so that I can stop at the Notch restaurant. I personally dislike going back down the Skihut trail because of the steepness.
