If you were to paint a picture of a perfect camping spot it would look pretty close to Lake Cuyamaca. Beautiful lake, green grass, birds, Bald Eagles and rooster crowing to start your morning. They have bathrooms near the camping area and large trash cans are in the parking lot. There is a place to clean fish if you wish and a restaurant on site. Boat rentals are also available.
The only cons I see are there aren’t any showers and the tent site where I was at were very tight. You can hear everything. So when the loud talking, kids crying and dogs barking continues past quiet hours it was a little irritating. You’re just way too close in that area. That’s why I can only give 4 stars. But head out and enjoy the lake.
My family and I visited for a few hours. The weather was perfect and the views are beautiful. We came on thursday around 1 pm and there were only a few people in sight which I admit, it was very nice haha. I only gave 4 stars because the bathrooms were closed. Only the portapotties were open. Overall it was a great day.
Nice scenic place. Not much crowded. It’s easy to rent boat and have fun for hours in the lake. Employees are very friendly at boat rentals.
Very relaxing and beautiful in autumn. Parking fee is $10. Many tables, good for picnic. The road is relatively well maintained. One bad thing is the lake loop trail is not so "loop", you have to use the road for the last part
