“My mother had been living with my brother, however, her dementia had progressed to where he could no longer manage her care in his home. We mistakenly moved her into an assisted living facility close to Somerford Place thinking it would give her a more “normal” experience, but it quickly became obvious that they were unable to give her the attention she needed. In realizing this, we took the time to look at many memory care facilities (including Board and Care homes) and, after visiting Somerford Place and speaking to a relative of a long-time Somerford resident, we decided to move her here. Since then, I’ve had much contact with the office and care staff. Their Sales Director Carrie Compton performs her job like a Social Worker; what are the specifics of the situation and, with all things considered, what is the best solution at hand. She was conscientious, professional and gave me a very comprehensive tour. The entire staff is friendly, engaged and attentive. They are all personable, dedicated and welcoming to visitors. They were quick to learn my mother’s idiosyncrasies and adapt to them. Their programs are enjoyable, upbeat and professional. My mother is happier and more relaxed because of how well she is being taken care of. In summary, I was nervous about moving her to a memory care facility as I imagined that it would be an environment that would be un-stimulating and sad. At Somerford Place, this couldn’t be further from the truth. I recommend them wholeheartedly.”
