“How do you know if an appraiser is being thorough and accurate?? When I was purchasing a home recently and required two independent appraisals, one of those was done by Chris from South Bay Appraisal Group and the other by a different company. I thought the home was worth about $1.8 Million and I expected one appraisal of about $1.7 Million and the other around $1.9 Million and I was surprised when the two appraisals came in and they weren't $200,000 apart(about 11%) they were less than $40,000 apart(about 2%). In a real estate market that is ... insane ... and at a time when home values are fluctuating rapidly and wildly, the fact that these two appraisals were so close to each other told me that both appraisers we very thorough and very accurate. The only differences were that Chris called and confirmed before arriving and Chris also followed up and responded more quickly to my emails and phone calls and provided clearer recommendations than the other person making me rank him highest. I was very satisfied with the work done by Chris and I confidently recommend him to others. Those others ask why I recommend him and I say because he's thorough and accurate in his work.”
