Hellyer Park is a beautiful peaceful place to go and read a book, walk bike or run on the trail or around the pond. I have been coming here since I was a little girl. Now they have made the playground way bigger and they have a playground with water do that kids can get wet in the summer!
Great park. Lots of fun play features. We went on a hot day which made us notice the lack of shade. Also there is one water feature which is not easy for kids and doesn't produce that much water. We would have loved more of a splash pad feature. Note: the park has specific open and close times. There is a big gate that they open so don't come when the park is closed. Also, there are bathrooms and one area with picnic tables if you want to have a birthday party there.
I come here on any day with friends and park the car along the streets and just chill in the car. Chitchatting while looking at the awesome view of this beautiful city. It's not overrated as twin peaks and it's super close to sunset district. I love it!
Small but pretty park with a flat, paved trail which is shared by pedestrians and bikers. You can see quite a bit of wildlife from butterflies and alligator lizards to many different bird species.
The lake is beautiful and also has many different birds, turtles, and other wild life. Surrounding the lake is a large grassy area for barbecuing with facilities nearby.
$6 entry fee as best I can recall.
Super family-friendly. A big nice lake hosting many ducks and seagulls. Picnic area. Large grass. Various kid zones with activities for all ages.
The only con we found today: watch out for duck poop on the ground!
