  I attended school there in the 1950's. I got a very good education. I'm glad that the school survived the challenges of the transition into authentic Vatican II thinking. I've had contact with the school in the past ten years. I perceive that it is doing a good job of putting together Catholic values of love and justice, very good academics, the needs of the whole person and the families' financial challenges.

  My daughter has enjoyed the whole child approach that St. Leo's offers and she has benefitted from the nurturing environment and caring staff. St. Leo's builds confidence into the children and encourages leadership. St. Leo's is a school that community minded parents and Silicon Valley leaders are enthusiastically drawn to. Of the graduating class of 2015, 100% of St. Leo's 8th grade students were accepted into the private high schools of their choice. This year the school and parish are celebrating their centennial year and have many wonderful events planned in honor of this milestone. It is a very exciting time at the school. The new principal, Mrs. Cosentino, is an outstanding visionary. She is passionate about children and works tirelessly to make St. Leo's the best it can be. A brand new STEM lab has just been completed, the first school in the Diocese to get one, and leading edge technology solutions is a high priority with this administration. We whole heartedly recommend St. Leo the Great School.

  This Catholic elementary and middle school is a leader in their use of technology in a student's education. Their innovative use of cloud based apps, 1:1 ratio of chrome books and collaborative online learning is among the very best in Silicon Valley. Their IT setup allows students to work seamlessly at school, at home or anywhere with Internet access using just their student Google docs login.
  
  Most of the students come from the local San Jose neighborhoods of Shasta Hanchett, Rose Garden, Willow Glen and downtown. After graduation most go on to Bellarmine, Notre Dame, Presentation, Mitty or Lincoln High School.
  
  St Leo the Great School in San Jose is coming up on their 100th Anniversary in 2015! The school is located on the original Los Coches ranch between what is now downtown San Jose and the greater Shasta/Hanchett and Rose Garden neighborhoods to the West.
  
  Named after Pope Leo the Great, who was famous for turning back the invasion of Italy by Atila the Hun. St Leo the Great School and later Parish started as a mission of San Jose Cathedral, dedicated by Archbishop Mitty and run by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and now the diocese of San Jose.
