“Lovely lake with fish, turtles and ducks. Kids play structure, swings, sand, picnic tables and huge expanse of lawn. Street parking (always plenty). Clean and safe. My grandsons always enjoy it. Also, catch and release fishing.”

“Wow- what a great place to visit! I went to Santa Cruz to see Henry Cowell Redwoods park and wondered what else was in the area. I saw on Maps that UCSC had an Arboretum, open to the public, so went. So many neat plants, from the other world places with a Mediterranean climate. The Australian garden, the South African, the New Zealand, all were superb. Well worth the $5 parking fee. If you find yourself in Santa Cruz, definitely make the visit!”

“Plant lovers paradise, lots of mostly natural looking areas with some more formal gardens as well. Great gift shop with cool plants from around the world that you prob aren't going to find at a regular nursery.”

“Short simple. Great walk/jog/run trail”

“A nice isolated place to go on a countryside adventure that's barely outside town. There's basically only one trail (the website says it's 2.5 miles round trip but it's probably closer to 3) but it's a nice one that takes you through a mix of rolling grassy hills with cows and an oak forested ravine with a creek. During the rainy season, the hills are a very appealing green, but there are some mud puddles that take up the entire trail that you have to worry about. Parking at the Highway 1 entrance is limited but possible at a a small turnoff and the views of the bay are very nice”

“Historic mid 1800s house and buildings from the old Wilder ranch and Creamery. Ample parking with access to a beautiful stretch of coastline trail. The trail is fairly easy with little change in elevation and has dramatic views of bluffs and ocean. This is a great place for a family outing or a quiet hike with wonderful vistas.”

“Nicely hidden cute beach. Worth checking out as you are hiking on Wilder to Ohlone. Can see seals from there on a good day. It’s secluded and quiet.”

“This park is very nice. Lots of friendly dogs. There's a big dog park and a small dog one. My dogs prefer to walk laps around the outside of the dog park where there's a nice little trail.”

“First, a few caveats. Don't walk your dog off leash on the trail; there are coyotes who will separate your dog from you. Secondly, don't leave your dog unattended in the off - leash area. Thirdly, some dog owners (as usual in any dog parks) don't understand the importance of having a well socialized animal and will bring aggressive dogs to the park. All of that in mind, this is my dog's favorite park in the Santa Cruz County area.”

“Small, cute and quiet park. Such a good find since I didn’t know about it. Three different play structures to entertain the little ones. Tennis court and basketball hoop too. Public restrooms and easy parking. Perfect for those days you want to chill on a calmer playground. The park is dog friendly and has picnic tables too.”

“We were here early December for a Christmas tree. It was late, dark and raining, but they were in good spirit and helped us find the right tree for us. It’s more expensive than any other tree lot we’ve been to, but the trees are also much higher quality. We’ll be back next year. Looking forwards to seeing their spring flowers.”

“A real variety and integration of different plants.”

“Who could say anything bad about a trail by the ocean!? We chose the easy 2.5 ml hike to accommodate some physical restrictions in our group. It was perfect. There are two other hikes, medium and difficult. Just look on the website for details. Views are amazing. Access to some cool beaches. Birds above. Life in the water below. It is a perfect local place to get your body moving. I also feel the easy hike could accommodate a stroller with large terrain wheels. There are cliff edges so small kids not a good idea. Carry, backpack or stroller.”

“It's directly behind the parking of Cabrillo College. So weekends and evenings are best. It's not the longest of hikes maybe 1 mile , but there are branched trails that are only loops back to original trail. Dogs need to be leashed like everywhere I. This area. I let my dog walk off leash with no issue. It is a great short walk. With wonderful views.”

“This park has enough space for everyone to play, including my bunny rabbits which is great because I tend to keep them away from the dogs. There's always a spot on the fields for them to run around, and everyone who goes here is super nice to them. There's even hiking trails here! I grew up at this park and would highly recommend it.”
