“This is a very basic park. No slide no swings but it has a really cool water feature that my kids love! You press a water and water comes bubbling up and runs down a "stream" into a sand box. Especially my water loving daughter can't hardly get enough of it. There is a walking path around the park and a large grassy open area to play catch or kick a ball around. There always seems to be a breeze and there are benches mom can sit on under some trees. If you want more slides the school across the street has two good playgrounds and while it looks like they are fenced if you walk around the side it is open and you can play on them.”

“This is nice historical area. It contains the old officer housing and the great St. Peter's Chapel with its Tiffany windows. Mare Island was the first U.S. Navy Shipyard on the west coast, when in 1854 David Farragut became it first commander. A number of submarines were built at Mare Island before it was decommissioned. There is also a nice nature walk that gives a good view of the Carquinez Bridge.”

“This is a favorite place to go for my wife and I. From our condo in Benicia we can bike to it. Going to the end of park and back is exactly 10 miles round trip. Good place to picnic. There is a native plants garden walk. Fishing down by the water at end of park. You can drive in and park for a fee.”

“I lived right next to this for almost a year and only explored this area after 6 months. The view on a sunny day is absolutely stunning! Definitely a must-hike in the North-Bay area. Check hours on website first, to avoid disappointment.”

“Beautiful example of indigenious plants, i believe it is still in its beginning stages. Cant wait to see what the volunteers do with the native plants moving forward. Hope to transition my own garden to indigenous plants. Mellow place, incredible spot to view our birds including bald eagles.”
