The staff here was super cool to me. Even while my 19 month old son Henry terrorized the establishment. Lol. They took it with a smile. And i do appreciate that so much. Its hard taking care of a little one by yourself. But my omelet was delicious and Henry liked his happy face pancakes.”

“We really enjoyed out stay!!!! We arrived late Thursday evening. Herb made it easy for us to gt to our room. We decided to stay this property because it was recommended by the bride and groom. The place is clean and quaint. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by Lynette. Herb made breakfast Monday AM. Everything is made fresh with tender loving care. For our last night we dined in the restaurant. AWESOME homemade German food. Ingrid told us the recipe is her mother's recipe. Herb's and Ingrid's daughter is their Chef. Really enjoyed the goulash. Haven't had good goulash since the Brau Haus here in Chicago closed. Apple strudel was also AMAZING! Will go back to Monte Rio just to see Herb, Ingrid and Lynette and simply for the goulash.”

My filet o' fish with beans, rice, salad, avocado was easily 5 pounds in weight and covered a 24" oval plate. My plate cost $12. Overall flavors were okay, just okay. The ceviches were better than the cooked items. Small dining room with zero charm factor. Clean enough for a dive. That's waaayyy better food for the same price point.”

Not only were we in the extraordinarily capable hands of Kerri, our server, but we happened to dine on a night when the proprietor, Bert, was in the house. The service was amazing! Bert personally checked his cellar and offered a fabulous bottle of wine that wasn't on the list. But the real deal is the food. The menu is creative, inspired, but approachable and the bottom line, it's delicious! Too often, places like this can rely on a steady stream of business driven by the sunsets and gorgeous views, and they end up not putting the effort into their food and service. Thankfully, that is NOT the case here! This place is so good they could black out the windows and I bet folks would still come back again and again for the fabulous food and warm, thoughtful service. I know I would! This makes the views and sunsets all the more special! If you are anywhere in the area, put this place on your list; you won't regret it!”

West Course is regulation 18 holes with a good but not really challenging layout. Both are very reasonably priced.”
