“A great place to put yourself in nature. It's a short distance from San Jose, but there's so much nature. If there's water in the creek, you're in for a treat! Plenty of parking and a lot of people taking walks and enjoying wild animals and plant life. It's got an outdoor park and a visitor center too. Both were closed when I went, but I appreciated the ground squirrels and so many birds! It's a great close by escape with nice walking trails. No dogs!”

“Open space on a beautiful mountain. Pretty close to city , only 30mins drive from city center. This place got a great view of the city. Beautiful during night , best place to watch the sun set from across the valley! Pretty cold during cloudy days. Mountain roads are fun to drive! Only challenge is to get some good pics while driving uphill , there is no parking along the way !”

“The drive up was nice, the gardens not so much. It seems like they sell peonies here but I only went to view the flowers. Although I wasn't impressed, I'm willing to bet that I didn't go at the best time of the year (early May). It was neat to see the llamas and the view of the valley from a bit further up the road was spectacular though.”

“This place is great for groups that have reservations. It is quiet and beautiful. Located near the top of a mountain with a lake and stream running through the property. The cabins a fair with hot water and electricity. Cell phone reception is very poor with Verizon being the beat, you have to wakk around to find service.”

“Gorgeous quiet park with beautiful blue lake view. Love it so serene park benches and car parking space. $6 to enter per car just don’t get mixed up with the North side which is dedicated to fishing. It’s about 20mins from North to South side drive. It’s one of the few parks around the Bay Area that’s not overcrowded. It’s like a little secret ????”

“June 2nd and the poppies and wild flowers going strong. This fairly remote rolling hills park of cattle range and local grass, tumbleweed, mountain bushes and trees spread through out. Water is hard to come by so bring your own. Bobcats, jack rabbits, quail and even the occasional elk or bear can be seen. Much of the park is off limits and closed due to the California condor protection act.”

“IMPORTANT! Bring lots of water and snacks for a day hike. Plan your trip and let someone know you will be hiking in the area so they can come and assist if you have an emergency. There is no cell phone service. Do not deviate from your planned route and time frame. There are steep mountain sides and no railing to protect from falls. Some sections of the trail go past drop offs that will most likely lead to death if you fall. Why 4 stars. This is the beginning of the trail that takes you to the Deal Campground. Once at Deal, the trail branches to Upper Rancho Nuevo Campsite, which is another 6 to 7 miles. I would rate the trail as moderate for physically active people. The elevation changes are gradual and spaced out. We went during the month of July and the temperature was about 95 degrees F. Bees where everywhere in the thickest areas of the trail. About 2 miles past the Deal campsite, we stumbled on a large bee hive and caused us to redirect. Not much of vast and open scenery, however, you will enjoy the quiet and tranquil sounds of nature. No one else is around. The beaten trail crosses the creek multiple times. Ensure you keep your footwear and feet dry. Muddy areas may prevent you from crossing the creek and find another path. Getting lost is almost impossible. Just follow the creek.”

“Came in late and stayed in overflow on the back side of the lake. The staff and rangers where super friendly and helpful. The other guests where friendly quiet and the evening was cool with a nice breeze. Not loud at all. Loved hearing the sounds of nature while we settled down for the night. We RV camp so no need to use the facilities but there are flushing toilets water facet near every sight.”

“I'd give this park 5 stars if they had restrooms. Nice place to go running, or walk your dogs. ???? Good mix of grass, asphalt and dirt to run on; I like running on the dirt hills. This park also has a small playground for kids.”
