“A short 1.3 miles. There a lot of ups and downs with about 1500 ft elevation gain. The scenery is beautiful after a long rainy period. There are shaded tree areas and open areas. So bring sun screen. There is a river that you need to cross but the stream was minimal. There was also a nice bridge.”

“Great place to bring kids. Great place to educate kids. Makes a good field trip for school. You can learn about old tools that we used to farm. There is a barn full of tractors. They have horses, chickens, and lamb. I had a fun time going and would recommend you bring your kids. Every year they have a little event.”

“Nice, small, quiet park. Great place to stop for a little while with small kids as playground is small. Nice green area for sports, picnicking or some limited kite flying. Not the same amenities as the larger parks but enjoyable, neighborhood park.”

“What a great park! It has a super cute play area for kids, ball fields, basketball courts, and a paved walking trail in a loop. There are rose beds and a pretty botanical area. The neighborhood is nice. It feels open and safe. I have seen people with dogs off leash but I've never had an issue with one being unruly. For you pokemon go players there are tons of poke stops and gyms and I've had fun meeting other players.”

“Clean new bathrooms! Small but adequate playground. A big Dog park and big grassy area. There are plenty of tables and a BBQ pit for party's size of 30 -50 ppl maybe. Downside it gets windy in that area and the grass is always wet when we go. Sometimes I see folks just sitting in their car there and the parking lot is right in front of the playarea.. I don't know what that's about but it makes me uneasy.”

“My friends and I have been going to Dome Springs for 19 years now. We grew up together as kids and 30+ years later we meet here once or twice a year for a reunion. It's a quiet place and not a lot of traffic comes through because of its location. Usually Highway patrol comes in the morning, Rangers mid day, and Sheriff at night to check on things but really thats it. Love it and we will continue to go there for as long as we can.”

“Walk around the lake, yes there is a lake tucked back there. Whelan Lake, I was told the place once was a dairy farm owned by the Whelan family , and given to the city of Oceanside to keep as a bird santuary witch it was turned into when the farm was know longer producing dairy products, and bird watching was a hobby of the Mrs. Whelan. Today you are welcomed to visit but must call ahead, gate open from 9 am to 5 pm weekdays, weekend the gate closed, entrance is a city maintenance yard you may call to check, care taker will let you in, they stay on site so respect there space and time and enjoy. Its a dirt road but maintained, a 1mile walk around the lake, with nice views, or tables to sit and enjoy the views. This peaceful place is worth a visit, its not just a walk in the park but a breath of fresh air enjoy”
