Robert Irwin's Central Garden

Address: 1200 Getty Center Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90049, USA

Museum Park

“A welcome bonus when looking out from the Getty Center! Visitors are in for a visual treat to see the landscaping, as the garden captures the attention when viewed from the museum above! A creation of California artist Robert Irwin, which I think brings life to nature’s palette! Lawn crossing pathways lead to an irregular passage, crisscrossing a cascading stream. The finale downhill flow ends with a waterfall into a pond. Neatly cut bordered sidewalks guide visitors down into circle paths at the pond. Down here is a garden labyrinth maze, set upon a small lily pad pool with ducks surrounding it. Also, an obvious attraction near the pond are the large trellis-tree bougainvillea. I’ve not usually seen such form for a plant so scattered! Looking back up at the Getty Center from the garden reveals the exquisite nature of the museum and research structures. The earth tone travertine exterior blends nicely with the hills!”

Golden Oak Park

Address: 9345 Golden Oak Rd, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730, USA

“The park was so gorgeous. Super clean. Even the picnic tables were clean. No trash. The open field was so green. Ball park looked great. Playground was clean. No trash in the sand anywhere. Pleasantly surprised at how clean the park was. Comparatively speaking. Gotta watch out for random dog droppings but other than that, that park was amazing”

Boulder Basin Campground

Address: Black Moutain Trail, Banning, CA 92220, USA

Campground Lodging Park

“While a little treacherous to get to at times (definitely need a higher-clearance vehicle) the campground is situated on a prefect location surrounded by boulders and tall trees. We stayed in spot 30, which has an amazing view and drop behind it. Lots of great opportunities for bouldering!”

Walnut Park

Address: 2700 Lillard Dr, Davis, CA 95618, USA

Park

“This park has a huge grassy lawn for sports. It is really ready to go for soccer with ample goals, just get them unlocked... There is a parking lot as well as plenty of street parking. There are bathrooms on sight too. There is not much shade here at the field and play structure, so bring hats and sun screen. Nice wide bike/walking path along park. Around the bend where the art butterfly thingy is, there is a dog exercise area, please clean up after your dog... Also, a volleyball sand court. Several picnic tables are nestled under the trees here. Lots of shade and a cool Delta breeze. Also, at the far end are 2 play structures that are a lot of fun! This I a nice quiet large park, another gem in Davis.”

Montiel park

Address: 2290 Montiel Rd, San Marcos, CA 92069, USA

Park

“Montiel Dog Park- Accessibility: first of all I like this park because they have a Porta potty that is a large one, big enough for wheelchairs, and it has a hand rail next to the toilet for you to grab onto if you need. Many dog parks don't have large bathrooms like this so it was great! It also has handicap parking (only two spots though), flat ground to get up to the park and dog park, and there is some paved ground right when you get inside the dog park gates, with two cement tables with built-in cement chairs connected. Likes: as mentioned above, I love the accessibility of this dog park and I do love that there are trees with shade for dogs and owners to rest under. Experience and dislikes: I came here at 7PM on a regular Tuesday and the parking lot (it is a small lot) was almost completely full. There were some cars parked on the side of the road outside the parking lot also. The park had LOTS of people and even more dogs. I did not like that there were so many people without masks on, sitting on the tables close to each other so I wore a mask in here. I also did not like how this dog park has no separation between different size dogs...big dogs and small dogs are all in this one park together and there were many times today where bigger dogs were going after smaller ones in an aggressive mannor. Actually one time today, a large dog was attacking a slightly smaller dog and a woman had to run over and yell at plus hit the big dog with her hand to get off the slightly smaller dog. It was a bit unnerving so I left after that with my small dog.”

Yaqui Wash Primitive Campground

Address: Yaqui Pass Rd, Julian, CA 92036, USA

Beach City Dog Camp

Address: 17970 Magnolia St, Fountain Valley, CA 92708, USA

Park

“We recently moved to the area from west LA where our dog had been going to daycare since he was a small puppy. He loved his old daycare and we were nervous about finding a place he liked just as much. We tried four other daycares that he didn't care for before we found Beach City. It only took a few days before he was running to the door in excitement to go to play camp. The trainers are so friendly and really seem to give the dogs a lot of individual attention. And he's made so many doggy friends.”

Small World Park

Address: 2551 Harbor St, Pittsburg, CA 94565, USA

“It was a cool little outing. Nice for a toddler to roam around and get out. Becareful when playing at the playground, they have jumping spriders roaming around and see one on a slide we were on. They have a little pond to catch crawfish, would say for kids over 4. Decent price. Cool to have a little party as well.”

Rena Park

“I celebrated my birthday at the nearby USS Iowa. This was the ideal location for bringing pizza and cake to celebrate afterwards. It has a small playground, plenty of shade, and a few picnic tables. The only problem is that there is no bathroom. If someone really needs to go, there are plenty of fast food restaurants nearby. A small park in a peaceful neighbourhood. It's my kids' favourite place to play. The only disadvantage is that once the sun begins to set, you will most likely have to return home because there are no lights and no restroom.”

Shasta Community Park

Parking Park

“Oh my. What a gem. Don't let the incline scare you. There's trails all over that lead easily to the other side to the water. To the right, near the houses, is a gravel path that's really easy. The picnic area is huge and the wind gets blocked by trees and hills. It really is a fantastic spot to explore. Trails go into trees! Shower and bathrooms were nice. The only downfalls were no park officers on duty and people leave so much trash.”
