“One of our best parks in the east San Gabriel valley, nestled in the foothills of La Verne, near Marshall Canyon golf course.”

“I really like this place. I like that its a different terrain scene from your usual palmdale desert. Gorgeous green rolling hills. I like that you can stray away from the trail and still be safe. Yes it's true that people don't clean up their own dog poop but. It's so nice in the morning.”

“It's kind of a bummer you have to pay to park but you can park farther up the hill and cycle down for free. It has some good mountain bike trails, the most popular being Chutes. To get to that (starting at the parking lot) you have to go all the way up the hill past the big rock with graffiti on it, past the American flag, and then right at the wooden fence thing. It's hot as heck and there is a lot of bike hiking to get up the hills so bring water. Edit: I went again today and it is even better now. There has been some great trail work and the weather now makes it a much more comfortable ride.”

“Great hike near Mountain Meadows golf course. If you park at the point, the toughest part of the hike is getting back up the hill to your parking spot. Bring water. From the point to the sandy wash area and back roundtrip will take you about 2.5-3 hours walking. Watch out for horse poo and extreme bicyclists.”

“Crazy fun for all ages! Even my 75-year mother enjoyed the slides. :) There was already cardboard at the slides so we didn't need to bring any. We went on a Friday and there were just a few smaller kids there who didn't stay long. There are two slides side by side so you can race. This was a fun time!”

“Blue Tower up the hill: Most amazing view in the neighborhood offering a 200° angle from Southern Hills to the East Bay. Whenever the day is clear it's at its best! One of the neighborhood's hidden gems, just like the rest of McLaren park.”

“This is my favorite section of the trail (localy)to night hike. To the north are the desert lights, to the south the inland empire.”

“Its so peaceful. I had a bay party for my kids there. The guests loved it. The only issues i had were that i got a tick bite and took forever to get off and they do not allow open flames. So no BBQ.”

“McKinley Square has a nifty little playground for kids, a grassy area for stuff and a dog run, a real off-leash dog run, on the hillside down towards the freeway. It's great! Bring your dog!”

“Dog friendly and not too crowded. Great for casual hike or a quick trail run. Took my 7 month old there to try out the backpack carrier.”

“So beautiful! I’ve lived in Los Angeles for 20+ years and never knew this spot existed. (It was built as an old western town for film shoots.) A great location for hiking, horseback riding, walking around and looking at the beautiful facades. The trees and streams are picturesque. There’s also a venue here for music or parties - in a big barn. This place is fantastically out of the way and from another era. Very tranquil. I will be back!”

“I love open space where my kids can enjoy nature and get some exercise at the same time. It's such a beautiful place to take memorable pictures.”
