“This is a great hike for any begging or intermediate hiker with all the different trails there's to choose from. The trails are a bit steep so I do recommend buying a pair of hiking sneakers or boots in order to make the hike much easier. Also, this spot is even more gorgeous during the spring with all the flowers in bloom.”

“Great park to go on a walk and get a great view of Sam Fernando valley. There’s a great play area for the kids and a loop around the park that is about a third to half a mile long. Also a great place to view the Fourth of July fireworks as you get the aforementioned view.”

“The Lone Oak is located on the Backbone Trail, roughly right in the middle between Will Rogers State Park and Temescal Peak. It is one of the few fully shaded spots on the trail -- great on a hot day -- and provides a convenient spot to stop and have a snack. Most importantly, the views from this location are fantastic, too!”

“We used to call parts of it Von's Hill.. It was a big shortcut for those of us who live up by Ridgecrest Intermediate school . It was a shortcut to either the mall or the high school. Right in the middle of the preserve was a little "fort" someone dug into the hill. Looks like someone used to sleep there from time to time. You couldn't see it from anywhere unless you already knew it was there. Anyhow great views. They call it a preserve until they can figure a way to build homes in that area. The dirt is so soft there I'd imagine it would be pretty risky wanting to live in that area.”
