“I’ve been living in a 1 BR at Brookdale for 9 months as of this review. Overall, I’m pleased with the place and I’m surprised there aren’t more reviews out there—especially recent ones. *Location* Perks are being close to 280, within walking distance to Safeway, and pretty close (though too far to walk) to Santana Row. Drawbacks are that there’s not much to do in the immediate vicinity, as you’re surrounded by car dealerships and other apartments. It’s also worth mentioning that there is a proposal to construct a large mixed-use development along Stevens Creek between the Mazda and VW dealerships (just down the street from Brookdale). The timeline for that project hasn’t been announced, but if it goes forward it will significantly impact (for better or worse) the neighborhood. *Noise* Although it’s close to Hwy 280, Highway noise is barely audible indoors. You’re more likely to hear birds. And car alarms. Neighbor noise is seldom a problem, though the pipes are pretty loud. *Management* No qualms with the management. The few minor service requests I’ve had were all resolved quickly and thoroughly. The staff is diligent about requesting permission or providing advance notice before entering apartments. Whatever pest control measures they have in place work, because I seldom see any bugs indoors. There are also a host of newly completed and in-the-works amenity upgrades, including a gas grill, fire pit, and package lockers. These are great, but I am concerned about the impact on the already high (though still reasonably good value for the Bay) rent.”
