“UPDATE: a school is only as good as its teachers; administration and philosophy can only take things so far of course. Emerson had two great teachers, but for whatever reason it did not re-contract with its upper elementary teacher this year. She was heading towards a decade at Emerson, universally loved by students and parents alike; a high performer, who's students transitioned into middle school effortlessly. Whatever the reason it can't be a good one, and as such I have become hesitant to recommend Emerson. The rest of my review below still applies if they can replace this star and address the administrative woes that led to her loss. Imagine a school in session the same number of days you work, and for 9 hours each day so you can drop off and pick up your child outside of work hours. And no more stringing together camps and vacations to cover school breaks designed to allow farm children time to work the harvests because the school only closes for legal holidays. Now imagine your child wants to be in school that long, and doesn't miss the breaks. Why? Perhaps they appreciate no homework, the same way you like to leave work at work. Or they don't realize the length of the day because its filled with a full curriculum, including art, music, P.E., two languages, sciences, history, and of course the core subjects. They also likely appreciate being able to advance in the core subjects at their own pace. Second grade math, fourth grade reading; wherever your child is and however they progress, Emerson's teachers will help your child learn. And progressing at their own pace means there is nothing to fall out of step with, so you take vacations whenever and for however long you want. The only thing left to wonder is why all schools are not like Emerson. ”

“I love how all the teachers are kind to us as individuals they are always helping and trying to improve us in so many different ways. When I first went to this school I was clueless about good writing. Then only after a little bit of school, we enter into an essay contest and I and another student won. I didn't just improve in writing my math facts become way more fluent and easier and easier. I love this school from the teachers to the academics.”

“To be honest it's a good school. The school tries its best and if they had better staff the school would probly be better. SOME of the teachers are nice and well teaching. Except for the band/orchestra/choir teacher who sucks, a lot, and mostly just yells at and assumes we'll get better. Also the 7th/8th grade science teachers don't teach and let their classes get out of hand. Lastly about 1/3 of the students do drug and they don't do anything about it. Other than that its ok. Its not a terrible school, it's just not great either.”

“My son has been taking lessons with Fun Music School for about 2 months now and I'm extremely pleased. He's not only learning, he's really enjoying it! I thought it was going to be a battle with him to sit down one- on-one with a music teacher, but he looks forward to it. The teacher, Michelle, gives him lessons to work on 3 times a week, and he's been motivated to do it consistently. I've noticed a steady improvement in his playing and am very proud. Lastly, Fun Music School's teachers are willing to travel to your home for the lessons for only a minimal additional charge, which makes it super convenient, and in my case, the only way it would've been possible.”

“There's a lot of pride in this school. Not like other native schools they let you be who you are. No embarrassment to there culture. More pride in that then themselves good school to learn a lot about. This is my home away from home, its my family, and I sure miss it. Rather be there any day. Keep rocking those drums, keep doing your war cry. Ill be back someday. :)”

“It's a really good school. It wasn't reported because of the rape, that was the spark school, completely different from the middle school. Teachers are usually nice and are strict in a fun way. Pe and normal teachers are great. They may seem mean but they push you to your limit, in a good way”

“Primary Years Academy is a wonderful place the teachers make learning fun, the staff will help us when we fall, The lunch ladies always prepare a nutritious meal that all students can eat, And lastly the Princable Does her job and has included more fun activities that teach students to be IB in school and when you’re out of school. I am currently going to a middle school and leaving this school was kinda hard sense I went here sense kinder garden and graduating as a 5th grader, but the school gave me and my classmates the support we needed. This school has not only thought me useful life skills along with the IB Standards but They also thought me that we must work hard for what we want. Example: When I was in 5th grade we had a big trip where we would go to Science camp and stay there for 4 nights and 5 days but the cost was so expensive. The teachers had us do fundraisers and they would also help out and we did this sense the ending of 4th grade and by the time we had to leave we had enough for everyone. This made the experience more better knowing that we had worked hard to be here. This was my experience here at PYA (Primary Years Academy) How will you’re experience be in the wonderful IB program?”

“Yes, Ms. Delgado does make children cry. The TROUBLEMAKERS. I was her former student and I was a huge brat until she put me in my place. Your kid complains that Ms. Delgado makes them cry? GOOD. They deserved it. She's a remarkable teacher.”

“Oh-em-gee, where do I begin!!! This place is awesome!!! All WOMEN gym where I do NOT feel judged. The staff is so friendly. Nicki's power dance classes are so electric and Tatiana is such a sweet heart whom has motivated me to walk through the door and keep it up by checking in with me, one-on-one! Best thing for all the BUSY-MOMMIES is: CHILDCARE, and it is included with your membership! They are good with my little ones and they love it! All the staff is welcoming and take the time to get to know you. So if you're tired of the gym norm (I KNOW I WAS...) and want an uplifting motivating (CLEAN) environment check this place out!”

“We love Rainbow Childcare! Our son began attending about two weeks ago. He is happy to go each day. We’ve been impressed with the professionalism and communication of staff. When I pick up my son, staff are always down on the floor interacting with the children in their care. I was impressed that staff members, even those that aren’t working directly in his room greet him by name. The director and assistant director are approachable, and all staff really care about the students in their care! We can’t say enough good things about it.”
