I herniated a lumbar disc 4 months ago and had seen multiple doctors within other facilities before coming across Dr. Serak. I had originally planned to see another doctor in the office on a referral, but it just so happened that Dr. Serak had an opening later that week for surgery (they wanted me in for surgery on a more urgent basis). I was unsure on going through the procedure but the staff was comforting and incredible at answering all my questions and discussing things I never even thought of asking. From pre-surgical (with 4 days to spare), day of surgery, during my couple-day hospital stay, and my post-surgical appointments, Dr. Serak has been available to answer all my questions and keeps me from feeling discouraged during the recovery process. The thing I appreciate the most about him is that he has a personality- I find that most neurosurgeons I've met with in the past are egotistical or lack the personality that I try to find within a physician. Dr. Serak is comforting, encouraging, easy to talk to, and is incredibly intelligent but doesn't let that get in the way of his patient care. The ENTIRE office staff has been so incredibly helpful as well- my post-op appointments were set up and mailed to me with an entire pre- and post-surgical packet on what to expect, protocols, dietary suggestions, etc. I was shocked to see that everything was set in place in the 4 short days that I had before surgery at Sky Ridge. Cynthia (medical assistant) has been easy to reach via email to answer any questions I have as well. Needless to say, I am so happy I stumbled across Dr. Serak. I cannot say enough good things about him, his staff, and the incredible work he has done for me. I will gladly refer anyone I know to Dr. Serak for any neurosurgical procedure that he provides. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
