“I was out in Milliken visiting my mom from Lincoln, Nebraska when my car started making a strange clanking noise at 5 PM on a Saturday. I was supposed to drive back to Lincoln the next day, but I had no idea what was wrong or if it was safe to drive so was in a bit of a panic. I called all sorts of places, and none of the big places (Firestone, Advanced Auto Pro, Midas, etc.) had anyone who was even willing to quickly look at it until Monday or Tuesday. I started calling anyone I could find on Google and finally reached Chris at C&R Automotive. He asked me what was going on and told me he could take a look in about an hour. I arrived at his house where he runs his shop. He looked at the engine, had me turn it on, and could tell immediately where the issue was. We turned off the car and he removed belts to confirm his diagnosis and found the alternator to be the problem. He showed me exactly what was wrong with it and we could hear when manually turning the wheel that the belt connects to that the bearings or something inside of it was broken, and that was where the noise was coming from. He told me where I could go to find an alternator this time on a Saturday, and I called around, found one, bought it, and then came back. I stood with him while he replaced it and he explained things to me as we went. Everything was fixed that same night within a few hours and the car was back to normal! I ended up driving back to Lincoln on Monday, and the car did great! It runs exactly how it did before it had the issue. The best part is the price was super reasonable, maybe even a little on the unfair side for Chris. He barely charged me for all his time, especially since I called him up on a Saturday night and had him change his weekend plans to help me get home safely. It's the first time in a long time I really felt like a mechanic was interested in just fixing the issue and charging me reasonably for their time.”
