Shibuya Eatery

Address: 2321 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009, USA

Restaurant

“Really solid spot overall. Excellent cocktails (the Spanish Magic was perfectly balanced), finger-licking good skewers (sampled both the chicken thighs and the pork and they were dusted perfectly with the rub), tender and well grilled and seasoned eggplant, and competent sashimi. I would say the sashimi was the only thing that could use some improvement, it just wasn't as fresh as what you would expect for a $52 12-piece. I think you're better off getting a few small plates and a couple of maki rolls here. We dined in the cozy and dimly basement at the sushi bar. It's got a cool feel to it though others might find it a bit too cramped. Service was wonderful, our hostess was very friendly and helpful throughout the night.”

Grand Duchess

Address: 2337 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009, USA

Restaurant

“Great vibe, great cocktails. Quality bartending staff--sampled all but one of the drinks on the base menu (as of 11/18) and all were good. I don't remember the name of the one I liked best but it had rye and amaro and was deliciously smoky and bitter tasting. "Off menu" versions of regular cocktails (Manhattan, negroni) were also well executed. I didn't try the grilled cheese but had some of my friend's Brussels sprouts and they were very good. Seems sort of random for a place like this to have good Brussels sprouts but hey, a lot of places you would except to have good sprouts have very bad sprouts. Overall a fun place with good drinks [and good Brussels sprouts].”

Jack Rose Dining Saloon

Address: 2007 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009, USA

Restaurant

“This place has a good ambience. The whiskey/scotch/bourbon selection is impressive, and they have a variety of beers on tap. I had good service at the downstairs bar, but when we moved upstairs, we waited over 10 minutes without bar top service or acknowledgement. Granted, it suddenly got busier, but it wasn't anything that would have been overwhelming for the 1 bartender. We decided to go downstairs for dinner service. Our server was helpful, and made amends for us not getting our drinks upstairs. The food was tasty, and arrived in a very reasonable amount of time. It got busier as our meal progressed, and our server was spread thin. We didn't get a beer we ordered, so we just asked to have it taken from our bill. At this point, I think they deserve a 4 start rating. It was removed, and the establishment insisted on serving it on the house. They brought themselves back up to a 5 star. They showed character, and that they really do care about service.”

Piccante

Address: 2120 18th St NW B, Washington, DC 20009, USA

Restaurant

Blaguard

Address: 2003 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009, USA

Restaurant

“Dive bar atmosphere with a decent brunch menu. We ordered the breakfast burrito, avocado toast, and fried cheese curds. The curds were fried very well but I just wish they were little more heavy handed with the seasoning. The burrito was hearty and comes with some perfectly crispy tots. The avocado toast came has four 1/2 bread slices and was topped with their simple pico. Toast was a good choice for a lighter meal. Drinks were solid.”

Lucky Buns

Address: 2000 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009, USA

Restaurant

“Enjoyed the burgers here at Lucky Buns. Got the Lucky Bun burger and was not disappointed. The flavors meshed well. The menu is simple, but it works. Would come here again, but next time would order the meat cooked through instead of medium rare because it was just a bit too raw/chewy ordering it the chef's preference that way.”

Arepa House DC

Address: 2120 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009, USA

Restaurant

“Straight up legit place. Arepas are spot on. Shredded beef is fantastic. All of the sauces go great on the arepas. I could eat ten of these and will stop by every chance I am in town. The owners are awesome and and very friendly. We had a great conversation! This is a must go!!”
