  When I found out I was pregnant with my second child, Emily was one of the first people I broke the news to. After using Emily as my doula for my first pregnancy and birth, I knew I needed and wanted her by my side again. Emily was my go to person during this pregnancy when I had any questions, to vent to and to get reassurance from. She always gave advice and listened in such a calm demeanor which made me feel at ease, especially when I had some high blood pressure scares at the end of my pregnancy.
  
  After almost 42 weeks of being pregnant, I was more than ready to evict baby from my belly. Feeling like it was never going to happen, Emily and my midwives guided me and offered some other natural ways to get labor started and it worked! 3 days before I was scheduled to be induced, my body went into labor and I was able to achieve my goal of delivering my sweet baby girl unmedicated. This labor/birth was harder and different than my first, due to the positioning of the baby. However, Emily helped me find different birthing positions and offered words of encouragement and advice through out. Just like my first pregnancy, Emily included my husband in the process as well, showing him different techniques to help ease my pain and comfort me during contractions so that he could first hand be involved. We appreciated that so much!
  
  She was there to check in postpartum and once again answer any questions I had and remind me to take it easy (which I was struggling with having a toddler at home to care for as well). I am forever grateful to Emily for being such a light and support sudden fitting both of my pregnancies. I truly can't imagine both of my pregnancy journeys without her.

  I am so, so glad that Emily was part of our birth. Her extraordinary competence, compassion, and calm demeanor got me through 59 hours of labor to a healthy, successful vaginal birth of an OP baby. Without her steady, guiding hand the outcome could have been very different. She worked seamlessly with the rest of my care team, including midwives, doctors, and nurses. It was clear (even through the fog of labor) that all of the care providers knew and trusted her and welcomed her input as part of our care team. As labor clearly didn't go to our original plan, she helped me and my partner navigate all of the different options and interventions at every stage and make an informed decision that we felt great about. The postpartum support has also been incredible, from coaching through the start of breastfeeding to providing a debrief about our labor and delivery that gave us much-needed context and explanation for what we experienced. Early on in pregnancy, we had been somewhat on the fence about whether we needed a doula. I can confidently say now that hiring Emily was one of the best decisions we've ever made, and surely the best money we've ever spent.

  This review is so long overdue but better late than never. I was lucky enough to have the TWO BEST doulas in Richmond present at my birth. It’s because of them that I got what I wanted- a low intervention, unmedicated natural birth.
  We hired Emily Bruno to be our birth doula for our first baby who was born just over a year ago. During the pregnancy Emily was available to answer any and all questions whenever I had a worry or any doubts. This was a great comfort! We also took the birth class at MyBirth which was a small and intimate class. I actually went into labor during the last class, a month early! But didn’t realize it at the time.
  Emily spent the entire night with us in the hospital and things were not progressing. VCU sent us home in the morning and it wasn’t until maybe 6 hours later that we returned to the hospital- however Emily was at another birth! so she asked Sara to come until she could make it. Sara was amazing, even though we hadn’t gotten to know her before hand she really had a calming presence. She was there for most of it and then when Emily arrived she stayed for awhile longer. Then they BOTH were supporting me thorough what was probably the most difficult part of the labor.
  I think of the birth as being a very empowering, yet humbling experience and I feel so amazed that I was able to do it! It’s due to the support of the doulas at MyBirth. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking birth support!

  I had an amazing experience with Emily.  From the beginning, I felt like we were on the same page.  She offered great books to help me prepare.  I was able to text her at any time of the day with questions or thoughts and always got a fast response.  Her advice was always grounding and helpful.  When I was stressed or being spastic she was always a voice of calm and reason.  During our birth she was great.  I never questioned the care I was getting, and completely trust Emily's guidance.  She has a sweet and loving way of talking and has amazing wisdom that was really comforting to look to for support.  She is the perfect balance of hippie and science.  I cannot wait to use Emily for our next baby!

  We were so fortunate to find Emily Bruno as our doula. Emily helped to make a 48 hour natural birthing experience safe and positive for all three of us. I can sincerely say we couldn't have done it without her and we also wouldn't have wanted to. Emily is incredibly smart, competent, well-read, and well loved here in the Richmond area (Henrico's Hospital staff couldn't say enough positive things about her). If you are looking for a rock star doula this is your woman! I also can't recommend all of the classes we took through MyBirth enough. They were a BIG help before, during and after the birth of our daughter. Thank you Emily and MyBirth for all that you do!

  Every time I go in, it amazes me. I've gone to this store since it was a feed/ convenient/local hardware store, before the grill and butcher. The owners have done a lot with the property including having the gas pumps redone a few years ago. In the past few years I've gotten gas a couple of times, never had any problems with my engines. Staff is friendly, store is clean, and they have great food.

  Probably the best chicken ive ever had. Excellent spare ribs. And the best price anywhere. Really. Best store around.
