(February 18, 2017, 4:57 pm)This campsite took forever to hike out to... though we didn't get on the trail until after dark. But it was a beautiful hike (with the exception of the muddy/marshy areas) and the campsite itself was pristine! All of the surrounding terrains seemed to converge right at this spot. The Withlacoochee River is a short little hike (approx. 7 min walk) down the trail from this campsite, so water isn't a problem. It is tannic water, due to the cypress trees, and it has a little weird aftertaste to it... so you might want to bring a little water flavoring (like Mio or Propel) with your water filter. Overall, it's a great place to camp and free to reserve the site on the Southwest Florida Water Management District website!
