Went there to eat for the second time in six months. Really like the food and the prices are reasonable. Portion sizes are also pretty good. Another plus was the service, which, given how short staffed everyone is, was really nice. Lauren was our waitress and she was really great. There was also a pretty attentive busboy that kept cleaning us up. Food didn’t take long at all. The only big issue we ran into was the extremely obnoxious signage out front, warning us in no uncertain terms not to bother the hostesses, that they couldn’t tell us how long the wait would be, that we wouldn’t be allowed to eat if we didn’t do this or that. Super negative. We contemplated leaving before we even went in! I understand it’s been a tough year and you want to look out for your staff, but there are nicer ways to go about it. Again, we came very close to leaving. Had we not been so hungry, we would have.
Finally stopped by here after passing it by for years. Loved the Chicago oysters, the raw oysters were not the freshest but descent. Also loved the broccoli, I know you really can't go wrong with broccoli but for some reason it was really good. Service was good too. I'll be back. If you are in the mood for Thai, East Bay Thai Basil is excellent.
Overall the food was good. There were 5 of us and the service we had was nice, we were taken care of. There was a good source of foods to choose from. My oysters were fresh and shucked clean. The Chicago ones were just okay- they had a pieces of shell cooked in with the cheese.. my daughters beer battered grouper sandwich was great. The scallops were cooked well but the shrimp was over cooked. The crab cakes were tasty and the sushimi tuna was fresh and sliced thinly. The prices were also good and the atmosphere was nice. We enjoyed our dinner.
We were looking for something low key/ casual to get some oysters after a Long Beach day. PJ’s was the perfect spot. Food was delicious, service was awesome (thanks Ginger!), and prices were great! We also had the salted caramel cheesecake — just wow.. so delicious! We will be back!
