“I walked in with an eye problem this morning. I also wanted to establish myself as a new patient. From the moment I walked in the entire staff was courteous, welcoming and eager to help me. I was seen and treated right away. The receptionist/insurance liaison was very helpful getting me set up within their system. The Optical tech who first examined me was friendly, knowledgeable and comforting. She really put me at ease and made the examination process enjoyable. Dr. King was awesome. She made feel relaxed, was easy to talk to, thorough and professional. The facility was clean, comfortable and inviting. I had been with the same Optometrist for decades and have bounced from one to another since his retirement. Eye Specialists of Mid Florida, Lake Wales made me feel at home. My whole family will be patients of them from now on. My experience with this location from beginning to end was excellent.”

“I received a postcard in the mail for a free hearing exam. I have not had one for years. Jeff Berdahl was very helpful and friendly and took the time to answer all my questions and explained the workings of the ear. I was offered another free exam in a year which was a pleasant surprise. The front office is very clean and there are placards in the seats about the ears that you can read while you wait. The exam room was very clean also. The secretary very friendly. “People are often scared when they walk into a gym as a new member. So many fit people, big guys, and scary machines that looks like they could fold them in half. They have no idea what they are doing beside walking on a treadmill. Well at muscle central the people make the gym. Everyone there is willing to help anyone. It’s a family owned gym that cares about their members and their wellbeing. Linda puts on so many classes that you can’t help but to be involved. Many people would see the size as a downfall, but in reality you aren’t waiting for machines or watching people stand around on their phone holding up a machine. “We have gone to Dr Knight for at least 15 yrs and the staff is quick to get you in and out as well as friendly and courteous. Dr Knight's practice far surpasses your large facilities such as Watson Clinic, as my parents use to go to Watson Clinic. I go to Lakeland Regional for overall medical care, but they have no dermatologist, and if they did, I would not be switching.”

“Unfortunately several members of my family have been diagnosed with either ALZ or dementia over the last 10 years. As a result I've become familiar with with a large number of both ALF's and Memory Care Facilities in Polk County. During my crash course experience, I made use of the Elder Guide. It provided a good base of information. Since then I've added a few requirements of my own, whenever I enter a facility. When you tour a facility pay no attention to the chandeliers or other amenities. They only matter in your run of the mill senior living facilities -- where your loved one is still independent. Once care is required you need to pay attention to the residents and staff during your tour. This business of caring for adults that are no capable of using reasonable judgement is an exhausting task. Don't kid yourself, this is very hard work that requires that staff stay on their toes and on guard at all times. That said, BOTH Savannah Court and Savannah Cottage are fabulous. Does the staff appear happy and content? If not, realize that as much as YOU may like the place, once you leave ... your loved one picks up on that atmosphere. They are often not able to communicate that to you. Instead, their health declines more rapidly than you expected and they begin to act out. Does the director spend more time in their office than out and about? Does the director know the residents names? These are the things you should pay attention to. Don't allow things that look good in appearance distract you. Those things no longer matter. In this sad, last stage of life our focus is on the quality of life. Find a facility where they will feel loved and safe. This is Savannah Court.”
