What an excellent experience! Our bowls were fresh and made with care. This was our first (and definitely not last) visit and the staff went out of their way to explain the menu and our options. The restaurant is exceptionally clean and behind the glass, the food station is carefully maintained. I've worked in the food industry for a number of years, so I'm extremely picky about the preparation and freshness of my food. You wont be disappointed if you've been on the fence about stopping by! A special shout out to the staff member that so graciously smiled and entertained my 9 month old son while my husband and I scarfed our bowls down....it meant the world to me that I was able to start and finish my meal in one sitting and not have to put our food in boxes to be enjoyed later in the evening.
I am new to Kona Poke so this was quite the experience. I took the time to use the chopsticks and I am happy I did. I had the Tidal Wave, one of the signature bowls. I choose a signature bowl (pre-selected ingredients) due to being new to this culture of food. Lets start with the basics. The bottom was sushi rice and it was well cooked. The flavour profile was very complex. My dish had two sauces both were light and had contrast, yet they were also light to the dish. I took the time to find some hidden gems as far as flavour profiles hidden within the dish. Look for some of the smaller bits against your white rice, they lend some very big flavours to such a small bit in a well portioned dish. Again take the time to use the chopsticks and have the full experience... U wont be disappointed. The staff were friendly and the restaurant clean as one would expect. I was pleased to find an outdoor table. It was a sunny day and the birds were friendly and singing. Overall I thought it to be a very good experience and will be happy to return.
Had to stop by after a family member told me about it. Amazing! It was so delicious! Fresh, clean, and most importantly easy on the wallet. I had a spice tuna bowl, sea weed salad half spice half regular, sushi rice, and plenty of other extras. Don't take my word for it, go and try it for yourself and tell me what you think.
This place is excellent. Contrary to some of the other negative reviews the portions are extremely generous. I found myself struggling to finish the last few bites. The food was extremely fresh and the selection of toppings/mix ins is mind boggling. You can make an endless amount of variations to craft a unique taste to your liking.
Another review spoke of the prices being too high. I did not find this too be the case. A Poke Bowl is not an item that would be priced at dollar menu prices. I found the overall cost of my meal to be right in line with what I expected to pay.
This is a new restaurant and I have eagerly been awaiting the opening so I could try them out. This review was written after my first visit. I can say that this will not be my last trip.
I had lunch at Kona Poke today and had a great experience. The short version: The food was fantastic, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I will definitely be back!
The longer version: I read some of the recent reviews saying that the portion size was smaller than expected. As a professional who eats lunch out every day, and it's my main meal of the day, I was concerned about getting enough food. Let me assure you, there is nothing to worry about. I was given generous portions of every ingredient. As I sit here back at my office 2 hours later I still feel full. As a business owner I'd guess that the negative reviews are written by competitors. Who writes the name of a competitor so many times in a negative review? I laughed out loud when I read it.
The food was very tasty and fresh. The presentation was very appealing. The nuanced taste of every ingredient really comes through. The staff was friendly and the place was busy. The price was what I expect to pay for the quality of food served. I just wish it was closer to my office!
