“Go to Boondocks for the food and a view of boats docked at several piers. The shrimp are delicious! Other seafood entrees look scrumptious. You'll be stuffed when you leave. However, at least when we were there in August, it was open air without air conditioning. The breeze and fans made it comfortable but just be aware. The restrooms are air conditioned. Feeding the fish (looked like catfish) with French fries is a regular attraction. They were so thick and wiggled on top of each other that you could almost walk on them. Parking is free.”

“It's a small restaurant. Very clean. However, the food is up and down. I ordered cashew chicken and it was very bland. Friend ordered the boneless spareribs and the pieces were cut too big and there was a lot more fat than normal. Also, she had to add the sweet and sour sauce to get the right flavor. Kids had sweet and sour chicken and complained there was too much coating and the chicken was hard to find. We've tried several other Chinese restaurants in the area that have not been as good so we've tried them a few other times and seen improvements so maybe that first experience was just an off day? Their fried wontons (with meat) are good and 1 of my kids loves the vegetable lo-mein and they even hold the mushrooms out for her. We will go back for sure. Check them out but remember, they're closed on Mondays!”

“The food is amazing. Ordered stew chicken with plantain, rice and peas and cabbage. Best cabbage. The flavor is savory with red peppers added for color and taste. Cabbage was so delicious, I ordered a side to go. The stew chicken falls right off the bone. And they just pile your plate. The chicken, carrots and potatoes were piled on top of the rice. I cant believe they has oxtail, goat, stew beef and chicken all on same day! They have all Kola Champagne and Sorrel! They have Jamaican patty and desserts as well. I almost ran off the road when I saw a Jamaican restaurant cooking authentic Jamaican cuisine so close to home. Staff was courteous and accomodating. Interior simple, and clean.”

Substituting the sides that come with an omelet is usually a given, but not here. This policy needs changing. I decided to just have the flapjacks. “We went to Texas Roadhouse in New Smyrna Beach for a late dinner. The restaurant,even at that late hour, had a fairly large Crowd. We were served almost immediately by a very attentive waiter. The restuarant is large but sectioned off made it feel cozy and friendly. The noise element was hard to ignore. I saw no effort to utilize sound absorption materials to quiet it enough for conversation. The food, as well as the service, were excellent.”

The nearby springs can keep you entertained as you wait, and there will be a wait, but they have a great outdoor loudspeaker and even offer boat tours that will hold your place in line. Excellent, thick cut bacon and very tasty sausage. I loved the raw honey on the pancakes. They have this amazing five grain pancake batter and a rustic white. I was making hearts with the two in my pancakes. It is $6 to get in the park but it's a great park to visit. There is an 18% gratuity which I gladly pay, well worth it. If in the area, go here, a great place to eat and enjoy the day!”
