Lake Marion Creek Wildlife Management Area

Address: Eileen Lake Blvd, Haines City, FL 33844, USA

Park

“I really liked hiking here. It was free so that's good. It was very quiet and I like that part. It had a beautiful section of Cypress swamp with lots of aquatic plants. It also has a vast expanse of scrub pine swamp. There were a couple of park benches sprinkled in it too. Good place for a hike.”

“This place is exceptional. The cabins really maximize space and are immaculate and so cute. We thought we had booked one with an overhead loft and when we realized we hadn't requested that and were short a bed we talked to management. They let us use "the hut" which is tiny but adorable even without prior reservations. They were extremely prompt when we thought we'd blown a fuse. The lake is beautiful with a shaded dock for reading or chilling outside. The community was quiet but has bingo and shuffleboard and horseshoes. Overall a wonderful experience. I can't wait to go back.”

Oak Harbor Mobile Home & RV

Campground Park Lodging

“We spent the day visiting family at Oak Harbor. Every single person was friendly and inviting. The property is beautiful and well-thought-out, with large mature trees giving shade when it is needed during the day along with many water front sites. The long pier was fun to fish and hang out and relax for a while but with half of it covered we were able to enjoy the Florida Sun without overheating.”

Lelynn RV Resort

Address: 1513 FL-559, Polk City, FL 33868, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“Very nice park. You have to pay for wifi, but sprint has a great signal. Bathrooms are spotless. Beautiful views of the lake and everyone including staff was very friendly. Only reason for the 4 star rating is the background noise from the highways. You can't beat the prices. Only 30 minutes from Tampa and Orlando. Big rig friendly and very easy to navigate. Many pull through sites also. Highly recommend.”

Lake Norris was lovely, the cypress trees were beautiful, and I was even able to climb up on one of the cypress trees on the lake while some friends made sure my canoe didn't drift away!”

“Seminole Ranch WMA has a nice section of the Florida Trail running right through it offering many opportunities to catch a glimpse of deer, hogs, red and grey fox, Osceola Turkey, bobcat, a possible gator or even a rattlesnake or two. There is a lot of fauna to see as well including Orchids and Air Fern. Take repellant and I suggest staying on the trail unless of course, you're hunting!”

Deep Creek Preserve

Address: 946 State Rte 415, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168, USA

Park

“Nice place for a horseback ride, but not alot of ridable trails. Looks like they are in the process of making more trails, so looking forward to checking them out. I do wish the would re-configure the parking area, they could take out some trees for more parking and place a gate to open and close as needed for safety in case a horse got loose. The gate would keep the horse from getting to traffic on 415. Just some suggestions to make this a little more usable and safe.”

“Had a good time here. Pulled up from Oklahoma, drove the length of the park. Went to the very last spot, and parked there. Walk to the beach. Picked up some seashells. Enjoyed watching cruise ships float off into the distance. Very quiet it was very restful is very peaceful, wish we could have stayed a lot longer. Noticed some people setting up tents and wondered if they could stay the night there. Maybe someday I will as well, maybe not depends on the wife.”

Pine Island Ridge Natural Area

Address: 3900 SW 100th Ave, Davie, FL 33328, USA

Park

“We got to Pine Island from Tree Tops Park. We entered with a sense of respect and solemnity, considering the history of the place. If you go from Tree Tops Park you’ll see a statue of Sam Jones who helped his fellow Seminole people escape. Instead, of you come in from the town that surrounds the Nature Preserve, you’ll find a larger statue of Lauderdale who was sent by Jackson to fight the Seminole. The wild part of the preserve meets a manicured area right about half way. What was going to be a golf course has been preserved, although not an island any more, for “the Everglades were drained to allow for human inhabitants”... Walk around with an open mind, and enjoy the berries, the firma, wild coffee and flowers. Try to get a sense of a place where so much has been going on for over 3000 years.”
