“Shhhh, keep it quiet! This is still a reasonably unknown gem locally! I guess it isn't so 'famous' as unlike the Wetlands, you have to actually exit your vehicle and interact with the outside world utilizing your legs or maybe a Mountain Bike, but certainly NOT road bike friendly. The scenery is genuine old Florida, and full of nature and birds. It's peaceful, rural and well worth making the effort to check out!”

“Primitive campground accessible by car. Water pump and composting bathrooms. Room for large groups to camp and affordable cost. Must reserve in order to get the gate code. This is not luxury!! But it is a very nice lake with a beautiful view. Saw a few alligators around.”

“I absolutely love Lake Woodruff Wildlife refuge. I am able to go quite often. On Sunday's I have walked with Roger and other birders. I have seen millions of tree swallows come in to roost for the night. I have seen the snow geese wintering. I have gathered my thoughts in the quiet solitude that is that place. I do not want to see The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, make another disgusting mistake and open this Refuge up to more hunting and fishing. In a refuge the animals and people are kept safe, it's the very meaning of the bloody word! Vivienne Powis West Volusia Audubon”

“My family and I come here every year. We love it! It is a perfect getaway. The cabins are the cutest ever, very clean, and cozie. The cabins have plenty of room for our family of four. The camp grounds are clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly. We also love our pontoon boat rides on the St. Johns river. So if you’re ready to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city this is the place to relax.”

“Very few ant piles and it’s obviously maintained well! There’s a pond in the large dog section. Poo bags are provided and has a dog wash station and water fountains for the dogs. Definitely the nicer of dogs parks I’ve been to!”

“Thoroughly enjoyed my day on the beach here. There is no shelf drop off in the water. This makes it a good place for smaller children to get in the water. There are several restaurants and shops just off the beach. Restrooms are very large to allow room to change. There are several showers for rinsing off. Cars are allowed on the beach and there is a driving lane between where most people set up and the water. This requires you to be very attentive when walking to the water and back to your towel. I would definitely go back. I would like to take the time to explore the area just off the beach.”

“Primarily shaded, lightly touched, deep woods nature trail that is approximately 6 miles long. It is fairly easy to navigate, as long as you follow the trail markers. I recommend bringing plenty of water, extra snacks, an adventurous spirit, and maybe some bug spray!”
