“Went there as my mother lives around the neighborhood. It is a place of wonder amongst all that might be wrong around the neighborhood with the crime and the like. When I went there, I was surprised at the lack of garbage and also of vandalism which can be very common in large cities. We were there alone and my children ran all around it, without fear and I mostly with awe. Clarkston as a neighborhood has some gems in terms of authentic architecture that has not changed in many decades, compare that with all the McMansions and built in a day boxes that abound in supposedly better neighborhoods. Perhaps it is because of the affordability or lack of development and downturn of the main streets such as memorial drive and the reason of deterioration, that has led to the criminality in the neighborhood, but it is the majority but a notable few that make it worse. The preserve here is notable and it is admirable that it has not been developed and kept frozen in time.”
