“This review is by a St Marys, GA home owner and highlights a few repeated fixes by our Public Works (PW). PW immediately replied and removed a fallen tree partially blocking the sidewalk near the submarine base and responded similarly in another obstruction close by. A third personal request concerned the city “right of way” property directly in front of my home. This concern was more about aesthetics than safety. It was agreed that PW would correct and prep the area for sodding. I would purchase and install the sod. All three responses addressed concerns that were initiated by a “common” citizen, portraits that our PW is among the best. At some point, the sidewalk in front of my home became uneven and created an erosion problem. There is a downward slope leading to the area, which increases the water flow that also contributes to the erosion. The flow appears to be the main culprit in the issue. All of the concerned area is the city right of way. Our responsive PW is communicative; and well organized and managed. As requested, PW corrected and prepped the area for sodding, only for the evening coastal storm to wash all the dirt into the ditch. PW returned, replaced the dirt and re-prepped the area. The sod was then tightly installed by me, but a small hole allowed the water flow underneath and yet again the dirt was washed out. This was frustration on steroids! The replaced dirt and sod were covered with the chicken wire mesh. This appears to be a successful fix. Photographs capture my reporting. A second adjacent “right of way area” was similarly covered with the same mesh. My 21 year old Crape Myrtle tree was removed, and the subsequent toxic nitrogen killing roots and dirt from the stump grinding were also painstakingly removed. The grass covered with the chicken wire mesh appears to also be thriving in this installation area. Our PW shines as a listening and responsive department; and deserves to be recognized as one of the best.”

“Perfect Blend of Old Southern Hospitality but on top of modern age movement. If you have a chance to visit downtown, I would highly recommend you do it and do it several times over. The city is working overtime to bring about small businesses and have a space for people to hang out, dine, shop and take in the gorgeous town. My husband and I moved to Newnan less than 3 years ago and it has grown so much since then. I highly recommend you shop Gillyweed for unique, one of a kind items for your home, gifts, clothing or something make your special place smell beautiful. If you love the West Elm store in Atlanta, Blue Fern Merchant is a great place to get a sneak peak of a similar style. Its both a little city and a little vintage. You have to do dinner at Meat and Greet for their Homemade Pimento Cheese appetizer, any burger is fantastic, and finish it off with their popular Moon Pie Sundae. oh yes! There are so many hidden treasures amongst downtown. I would recommend you ride through the areas and also just park your car and walk the square. Especially Saturday- Downtown Newnan has a calendar of events that show all the wonderful things happening here. Don't forget to check out all the wonderful filming locations for fun. You never know when you may be visiting and see them filming a movie or show :)”

“I walked into the shelter 3 days ago - not knowing that I would leave with my “furever friend”. I visited the cat room and saw a kitten looking directly at me from his cage. He literally stood right on up. I told the officer that we would like to adopt him. Yeah, I didn’t hesitate at all. Things work a bit differently at this shelter. You have to be on a waiting list to adopt and it’s in numerical order. See, it’s my second time visiting and I wanted to make sure I was first this time. I don’t know if people believe in higher powers but whatever it was …. it worked in my favor because I was able to take him home on the same day! I named him Neo and he’s such a sweet boy. Thanks to the staff.”
