I suffered from "frozen shoulder," originally diagnosed by Dr. Zapata in August, 2012. The MRI facility provided Dr. Zapata with a good scan, and he immediately identified my condition, and knew exactly what was required for my recovery. Unfortunately, my insurance expired August 31, 2012 and, unemployed at the time, I was unable to follow up.
However, I received new insurance coverage beginning February 1st of this year. I was finally able to seek the treatment I desperately needed. Although a different doctor performed the procedure on Feb. 28, 2013, Dr. Zapata's original diagnosis and the CD-ROM he provided guided my new doctor's efforts. (Dr. Kan, an awesome orthopedic surgeon, based in Honolulu)
I am pain-free for the first time in over eight months.
I currently undergo twice-weekly physical therapy sessions to ensure that my shoulder does not "freeze up" again. This will continue for four to eight weeks, and it is no bother at all. I actually enjoy it. (If you're ever diagnosed with this inherited affliction, usually affecting people over the age of fifty, do not fear physical therapy! It's wonderful.) When I complete the sessions, I will be completely healed.
Thank you, Dr. Zapata!
