My son is a music major there – is there a better place to study music than New Orleans? He loves the department and is getting lots of hands-on experience. Ponchartrain Hall is the nicest dorm I have ever seen – a palace compared to the places I lived "back in the day." And it's the least expensive of the state schools – he could be living far from home and paying a LOT more the privilege and not be getting as good an education as he's getting at UNO.
The sociology department is hands down the best. I went to two other institutions before I came here, and this feels the most like home for me. I cannot speak for other majors, but I truly have had great experiences with my department advisors and professors, as well as the psychology department.
A nice university with enough resources and opportunities to achieve quality education. Dorms are nice and well managed. Opportunities for research as well.
I really enjoyed ny educational experience at UNO. Great faculty really interested in student success. State budget cuts have taken a toll, but the heart and soul of the University remains. Offers a quality education at a reasonable cost at a great location.
