“I recently had hip surgery due to a fall. After the surgery I moved to Northshore Rehab Hospital. When I arrived, I couldn't move my left leg at all and required extensive assistance. I was also very nervous going into a new environment. Much to my surprise this was a wonderful experience. Instead of a clinical, cold environment, I found a warm, caring family environment. Everyone, from doctors to nurses to CNAs to therapists, treats you as if you're their family member, caring for you and helping you toward your goals. Each becomes a ray of sunshine that you can't wait to see. Rather than dreading the therapy sessions, I couldn't wait to get there. The patients became friends and the atmosphere in the therapy room was like a big happy family. My physical therapist was Lisa and my occupational therapist was Mindy. From the first day I met them they made me feel safe, confident and special. By the time I left, I had two new daughters who had taught me to function completely on my own. I could walk with the walker, move my leg independently, shower, dress and care for myself. Any obstacle I faced, they quickly addressed and resolved. The progress I made in 10 days there was incredible and all due to their skill, knowledge and most of all caring. When it was time to leave, I truly hated to go. It was like leaving family members. Anyone needing any type of rehab should definitely go to Northshore Rehab Hospital. It was an amazing experience and gave me my independence back. Thank you to everyone at Northshore Rehab! I'll never forget you!!!”
