They have a nice little beer selection and the drinks from the bar looked good, but I did not try one. Chargrilled oysters were made fresh and tasty for sure (I hope you like butter and cheese!). The blackened chicken on my salad was flavorful and moist, but it could have used a bit more dressing. Parking is very easy as well which is always a plus”

“On our way back home from a daycation, we decided to stop for breakfast in Slidell. We were very intrigued and inquisitive about La Pines Cafe. We had seen and heard of it being on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. So glad we did. As we walked up to the cafe, we saw a crowd of people waiting outside the cafe. For a Sunday right in the peak of the breakfast rush, we anticipated waiting for a little bit. (That was fine) But... We didn't! We were quickly seated and was asked our drink orders and handed some menus. As we looked through all the amazing choices, we decided to get... Me: The Chicken Fried Platter Breakfast with 2 over easy eggs, home fries, and a biscuit. She: The Garden Omelet(Pepper Jack Cheese, Onions, Artichokes, Tomatoes, Spinach, Mushrooms) with some toast. “Full disclosure: I work here. In all honesty this is the most efficient and clean of all the restaurants I’ve worked at over the years. The food is… well, it’s Domino’s: not really any better or worse than other locations though the current staff deserve your patronage (and MASSIVE tip) more than most. I would like to note that delivery drivers make MUCH LESS THAN minimum wage and therefore literally depend on your generous tips for their living. Furthermore, relatively recent changes in the percentage of tips that are “credit” means they only wind up receiving 75% of your tip unless you tip cash. And lastly, drivers ONLY receive your tip and are just barely compensated for their mileage (which on the average delivery amounts to little over $1): they DO NOT receive any portion of the delivery fee. They have to buy their own gas, insurance and vehicle maintenance/payments ALL out of YOUR tips and HOPE to have enough left over to pay rent, feed themselves and their family, etc.”

“My experience here was great. For a first time Raising Cane’s experience, I was thoroughly pleased that the food lived up to the hype. It didn’t take long for our food to be ready. I got the box combo which came with four chicken tenders, Texas toast, coleslaw, and a drink. The coleslaw was surprisingly very good – sweet, crunchy, and savory. It was definitely a welcome change of flavor and texture with the other heavier food items. The Texas toast is insane. I could legitimately eat only that and be happy. It is served hot and is extremely flavorful. It has a little bit of crunch on the exterior, but the interior is soft and buttery. I can’t do it justice trying to describe it in words. The chicken is on another level. The chicken tenders were super crispy on the outside while being very delicate, tender, and moist on the inside. Easily some of the best chicken tenders you will get at a fast food establishment. Their Cane’s sauce is a tangy, savory sauce that had a very mild hot sauce and garlic flavor embedded in what I assume is a mayo, ketchup, and like a Worcestershire sauce. Whatever it is, that is liquid gold. The best part about the experience here at this food court is that you can then take the food and eat it right outside right next to the river. It’s a beautiful spot to relax by the water and enjoy good food.”
