My son transferred to this school mid-year after six long miserable years of bullying and racism at Sligo Creek Elementary school from the principal, staff and children that ended in a teacher throwing my child up against the lockers for talking in line. Completely devastated with the whole ordeal we were done with MCPS and were seeking private school. Before making any moves, I spoke to a well respected friend in the community and was advised to try Belmont. She raved on Belmont's greatness and all they had to offer. She suggested I visit and see for myself. From the moment I met Principal Mr. Evan Pinkowitz, School Administrator, Nicole Butler and School Secretary, Doreen Doye, I was in love! They heard my cry and concern and assured me that they would do their very best to accommodate my son. We met his teacher Ms. Miller (OMG what a gem!) and it has been amazing ever since. We were received and loved by all! Staff, students and parents alike have just been really delightful. My son said it was so "refreshing" to go to Belmont and exciting to learn. “WE WERE VERY BLESSED to find Roy W. Barber Funeral Home. After a disastrous experience with another funeral home, we found Mr. Barber and his family to be compassionate and caring, clearly in the business of meeting the needs of grieving families. We had our Mom moved from the other funeral home to Barber because they expressed concern for what we were going through and for what we wanted for our Mom's service. While other funeral homes had said no to our simple request for a specific viewing time, the Barber Funeral Home said, "No problem." Each of the family members was kind and responsive as well as knowledgeable. When we needed someone to contact an out-of-state newspaper to confirm our Mom's death for an obituary, Mrs. Barber, took the phone number and called them immediately. The funeral home itself is a lovely old home that we found very comforting...especially when we were told that they believe "each family should have their own private time to grieve for their loved one" so they don't book more than one viewing or funeral at a time. The entire funeral home was available for us and our guests who came to honor our Mom. As professional and knowledgeable as the Barbers are, it was their personal compassion expressed to us that was unique and precious to us. A sign in the home says they are "proudly family owned and operated". The Barber family has much to be proud of!”
