“Camp Merryelande is a wonderful place to stay and great to bring your family to. The atmosphere is that of wholesome family fun. Great place for college students or sororities to throw parties. The camp is beautiful with panoramic views of the Chesapeake bay. The cottages make you feel like you are laying on the beach from your bed you can hear the waves hit the shore. I thoroughly have enjoyed multiple stays at camp Merrylande.”

“Lovely restored building made GBH into a B&B with beautiful gardens and pool. The pool, the surrounding patio and porches, and the quiet location off the road and 1/2 mile from downtown St Michaels boost the ratings to a 3 1/2 - 4 star. The pictures of what has been done to get the B&B from a run down heap 20 years ago to this point is amazing. (Album in parlor.) All buildings need steady maintenance and upkeep. This one needs some attention inside and out. Walking around - the porches had spider webs which with a little TLC could have been brushed away to spruce things up. The vinyl siding was dirty and needed a power wash to spruce things up. A power wash would have handled the grime and webs. As I said the gardens and pool are beautiful. We lingered around the pool for socializing, swimming, and cooling off. The pool and gardens are highlights that we enjoyed and they lived up to our expectations. Enjoyed outside fridge for cold drinks and ice poolside. Pool towels were provided. The beds were ok, rooms nicely appointed yet a little tired looking. For example, toilet seat in our bathroom was broken, not repaired as we were told it would be within next bit of time. Careful inspection as room was cleaned after previous guest would have revealed that need for maintenance man to fix. Liquid bath soap and shampoo bottles were refillable - great green idea, but bottles looked tired (reused too many times?) and needed more liquid in each. All would have been overlooked, had the AC worked well. Some mechanical problem made for no AC for upstairs rooms - ours. Owner remedied by moving us - for the night- to another B&B that by comparison was very neat and well appointed. The GBH had queen beds, the other had king beds. Notable better night's sleep. Came back for breakfast and to be with other half is our party. (Second couple.) GBH had keurig coffee set up. As tea drinker, I would have appreciated an electric kettle. Tea through a coffee keurig is tainted by coffee. Owner, chef, responded by microwaving mug of water for me in the kitchen/office. I went into kitchen space for hot water only to find more clutter than one would expect in business' kitchen setting. Lots of office papers/mail on counter versus cook prep space. BGH seems to need either chef and/or secretary to maintain order there in office/kitchen. Owner wears many hats: receptionist, booking agent, chef, waiter, tour guide, and maintenance man. He needs another person to do maintenance in a variety of areas. He has a great vision for GBH, needs people to do maintenance for implementing that vision. Again, St Michaels is a lovely spot. We had a great visit that was not dampened by a few negatives.”

“Five stars for Ashley at the front desk. On a busy, rainy Friday night she was cheerful, helpful, and quick to get people checked in. She's definitely a valuable employee, and I hope the owner of this place knows that. She deserves a raise for the smile she forced through a hectic night. That said, this is a 2-3 star rating otherwise. There's obvious signs that this is a place locals go to party (furniture held together with drywall screws after being broken, and someone had some really good weed on floor 2... It stank.), and there's worn carpet here and there, and I had to wash some pubes out of the shower. AC rattled a bit, bathroom needs updating, and there was some trash left behind by the previous guests. Really though... For $50, this is WAY better than America's best Value, or Comfort Inn. No bugs, generally clean, a kitchenette, and very friendly, accommodating staff. This place will be on my short list of places to stay off of I95 in the future.”

“We were totally delighted with our short stay in this new hotel. Our room was comfortable and tastefully done in earth colors with a trio of black and white photos over the bed. The bedroom and bathroom were both immaculate! Although we were only staying one evening, for those staying longer each room has a coffee maker, microwave, small refrigerator and ironing board, In addition the room had plenty of charging areas- something we both appreciated, We also had time to enjoy a time for relaxing in front of the lobby fire place with free coffee. The bathroom had great spa toiletries and the shower had plenty of hot water and water pressure- another thing we always need when traveling. Although we had to leave before their free hot breakfast, it looked great! ONE COMPLAINT: We both agreed the bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept on. It was as if you could feel the slats under the mattress. They have to replace these mattresses!!! But the Country Inn and Suites shares a back parking lot with the Cracker Barrel Restaurant! How can you go wrong?”

“Absolutely loved the hotel, every single staff was caring and friendly. We stayed here for 10 days and felt like home. The rooms are very spacious, you can find extra pillows inside the closets, everything clean and comfortable. The pool was a plus and also the fitness center. The breakfast was delicious and they served complimentary food on weekday’s evenings. Another pleasant surprise was the laundry room because it wasn’t mentioned on the website (photo).”

“From the very first greeting from Stephen (the front desk attendant) to the very last goodbye (also with Stephen) This place quickly turned into one of my favorites! There is a huge difference between pet friendly and pet Lover Friendly....they are clearly pet lovers! (They even have dog treats!) As for the accomodations....Top notch! The room was spacious clean and comfortable! I have added this hotel to my favorites list and will definitely stay here again when we are in the area!”

“Great home away from home. Food is great! Didn't get into the water, but, as an avid health nut, the gym equipment selection is terrible. Some treadmills/elliptical, a few weights (with no room to use it), and... That's it. Needs a total body system. Most 1-2 star hotels have them. Other than that, it is a great experience”

Super 8 by Wyndham Hagerstown/Halfway Area

Address: 16805 Blake Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21740, USA

Lodging

“Thanks to the manager Julie--who personally booked our rooms after we had an emergency flood in our home--we had one of the best hotel stays of our life. The hotel itself is fantastic--rooms are very clean and spacious, beds are comfortable, they are pet friendly, and they provide a lovely breakfast every morning. We were given adjoining rooms so I could be next door to my elderly mother. The doors to the rooms are inside the hotel, not external like some other places. This, along with the fact that anyone entering has to get buzzed in at night--made us feel very secure. After we had an awful experience at another motel in the area, coming to the Super 8 was like a dream. We were actually sad when it came time to leave, because we were so comfortable there. Amazing customer service and quality of the hotel. I highly recommend this specific location of Super 8 for anyone staying in the Hagerstown area.”
