Parking lot is a bit small in front and slow down on Washtenaw so you don’t miss the turn. If you order tamales make sure you call ahead. “Me and my friend have tried many different restaurants around this area, since we like to try new restaurants every time we go to eat. Oakland Tea House is solidly in our top 3 favorite places, if not number 1. We went here for the first time not too long ago, and let me tell you, this was the BEST food I have had in a while! The pork dumplings are phenomenal! It's been a few days since I've eaten there and I still can't stop thinking about them.😂 But it's not just the dumplings that are delicious, the other food that we got was just as good. I had read the reviews before going, and saw many people had seemed to like the beef noodle soup. Now, this is the type of thing neither my friend nor I would naturally gravitate towards to order. However, I am so glad that we got it. It was so warm and flavorful. It felt like sitting on a couch cuddled up with a book and cup of tea on a rainy day. It was so comforting. The shop has a homey feel and is run by a very nice couple. The woman at the counter was so kind and helped us by recommending some dishes to us. Some of the reviewers said the food took a long time to come out, but that wasn't the case for us, though there weren't many people there when we went. Regardless, if the food took even an hour or two longer to come out, I would still happily sit and wait. It is so worth it! You can clearly taste the care that is put into each dish. Honestly, I can't recommend this place enough and will back very very soon.”

“Went there for the Mother's Day breakfast. We were standing at the door when they opened, and service was amazing. We were in and out in 40 minutes, even though every table was full, including large groups of 10. The limited menu was a great idea to speed things up, and there was still a great selection. “Start by saying I'm 50% Italian. I've come here 3 time now. The bread basket comes with a very good sauce Food is very well prepared! The 1st time I had veal parmesan. Comes with 3 breaded veal in sauce and parmesan. It was very good. The breading needed more seasoning. Sauce is good but not Grandma's house good. The minestrone soup was a little salty for me, tho the chicken tortellini was very good! I finished with tiramisu also amazing. 2nd visit was Burrata cheese in sauce, Crab cakes, 8oz Filet and an off menu meal. The steak needed mushrooms or zip sauce with meal possibly blue cheese for the price. John and Taylor were amazing and informative! Dessert was cannolis. 3rd visit service was slow. food was mushroom soup, Tenderloin tips arrabbiate, and chicken marsala the marsala was not good unfortunately, seemed very bland needed more flavor in sauce. Very cheerful atmosphere, people seem to know each other here a lot. Has a small private event area. Overall this place has a great vibe. If you want it busy come around 6 on Saturday night. If you want it relaxed come 430-6 other days. They do take reservations! A little pricey but is complimented by service. Overall price/quality/quantity not balanced.”

“Our large party of 20+ walked in on a Saturday evening and they were able to accommodate us in a section of the restaurant. Thanks to the great staff, servers Kirsten Tanya and the management team for pulling off a wonderful experience. The food all came out hot and in a timely manner for such a large group. The atmosphere is lively and full of fun memorabilia. The fans are shaped like French fries. The bourbon bbq burger and BBQ chicken sandwich were good. “We had a good meal. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes. Being a southern gal, I have eaten a lot of this in my life. They were really good. Any time I've ordered this dish at different restaurants they were always greasy. Not so this time. My husband ordered Frog Legs. I am not terribly adventurous with food, but I tried them. I was surprised. The texture and flavor were much more delicate than I was expecting. I ordered Crab Cakes, also good. I chose red skin potatoes as my side. They were just boiled (which the server told me when I ordered), so they just needed some butter, salt and pepper. Our server was really nice and tolerated me in a chatty mood :-). I also have no complaints with the atmosphere. All good.”
