“Pretty good park near the closed down Speedway. You can definitely tell it's an older park, bit it's still lots of fun and not in any disrepair. Not a whole ton of stuff, but there's a cool wobbly balance beam and a zip line. There's also a soccer field with nets and softball field.”

“I love this place! It is the perfect place for a picnic,to just chill out by the water or to sit and read a good book. “This is one of the most ideal places for the whole family to go and experience the best of outdoor life and nature in Dakota County. We’ve watched it develop and expand it walking, sledding, picnicking, enjoying a summer hammock, walking pets (on a leash), snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing (pass required) opportunities. Its expansive 456-acres are located in Empire Township in the heart of Dakota County and are very well kept. Paths are nicely marked with a few instructions that make it easier for everyone to enjoy. We love reading the informative signs, too. Like the one that tells us “Most animals can detect smells, but they don’t all have noses!” It’s a year round spot for exercise and pleasure. It’s impressive how the park keepers have used naturally fallen trees to create park benches, bridges over wet area, play and viewing perks, as well as fun displays. Yesterday when on a solo walk I was enjoying the swans. They add so much grace and are stunning to hear and observe. Everywhere you look; there is some treasure about nature to take in. The observant eye may find stones, bark, birds, and tracks that make one wonder who has been here before us and is silently with us. We’ve had a close friend take a week in a camper cabins at Whitetail Woods Regional Park and that’s sounding enticing. I drove by and chatted with some campers and that had only good things to say. Everything done here seems to be down in the mode of “excellence”, making it ideal winter camping. Minnesota winters have wonderful color too – when you’re out in the woods. Parking is ample. The pavilion is expansive with an exceptional fire pit and grilling stations. The front space has lots of room for picnickers to enjoy the provisions and still be completely private for others at other tables.”

“A large fenced in area. Plenty of room for those dogs that love to sprint and fetch. Free. Potty bags supplied. Down sides: only one shaded area with table, no restroom for humans. A few trees for shade and to break it up a little would be nice but we loved it nonetheless.”

“Nice length trail for a walk or a light run - full loop is about 2 miles but you could probably stretch it to three by taking every little loop there is. The bridge through the water is a nice feature. There is also a nice section through the woods on the south end at the bottom of the hill. You can link up to a paved trail as well - not sure where that goes as I have not taken it but could help create a longer path if one needed. Lots of butterflies, birds, and standard wildlife about and lots of prairie wildflowers. Trail is well maintained. If you can't escape the city this is a good choice for a little nature stroll. Biggest negatives are the massive buzzing power lines and some of the noisy industry next to the preserve. Traffic from highway is quite audible as well.”

“Nice, well kept fields. Playground near ball field to keep young ones occupied. We were there on overcast fall day, but imagine on a sunny summer it would be hot. Not a single tree anywhere near the playing field.”

“Great park! Nice playground that seems newer, with lots of fun stuff to go at it. Large soccer field, softball field, and half basketball court. There is a small community garden here, but it looks mostly dilapidated. Also a portable restroom there, but not very much shade here unfortunately and only two benches. And no baby swings. Parking lot is small and tight, and a small walk from the playground, but there's a lso nearby street parking on Cornell Trail.”
